Last bowl win had been ´84.

Just tweaking your chin, AL. It´s all good. I was referring back to a time when UK was on SI´s cover in 1989, when the title was Kentucky´s Shame.

Me too, Cat. Notice I said football team, not basketball. Yall did have a real good SEC Championship football team back in the early '50's. What was that coach's name?:p

Forgot. :) Actually, we had a MNC in 1951 awarded by Sagarin a few years back.

So, Got One!

We're back, Baby!!! ....... Again.

Win an Iron bowl and an SEC West Championship, before you get too excited..

Saban will never win a National Championship at Alabama, he's already shown that he's willling to follow the money, so in 3 years when an NFL owner comes courting with 6 Million a year, he's out of Podunk, AL.

Sagarin gave the 51 champ to Maryland.

You really want to start claiming the 51 NC around here?:)

Sorry, 1950.

Past Division I-A Football National Champions

Cats went undefeated in the regular season, but lost to UT in the closer really close, something like 7-0. Then they turned around and beat Oklahoma 13-7 in the Sugar Bowl:

1951 SUGAR BOWL
Kentucky 13, OU 7 - Jan. 1, 1951 at New Orleans, La.
OU won its first national championship by going a perfect 10-0 in the regular season. However, Kentucky, coached by Paul “Bear” Bryant, upset the Sooners and broke a 31-game OU winning streak. OU lost a bowl-record five fumbles in falling behind 13-0. A fourth quarter 17-yard TD pass by Billy Vessels narrowed the margin but a come-from-behind effort was foiled by an interception in the final minute of play.

In that day, OU and UT split the NC, and Sagarin granted UK the NC a couple of years back.

with Tony Dungy's talent
That argument is almost as tired as it is ridiculous. Dungy had 0 personnel power in Tampa. So, even though I can can tell being accurate obviously doesn't mean anything to you, the accurate way to make that asinine statement would be that Gruden won with Rich McKay's talent.

Oh yeah, Rich Mckay the genius who let Schuab go to the Texans, and now has placed the future of the Atlanta Falcons into the hands of Joey Harrington

Doesn't change the fact that Dungy had essentially nothing to do with assembling the team in Tampa that won the Super Bowl.

I'm happy for Pearl and the success he's had, but going to the NCAA doesn't compare to winning the superbowl.

Once Pearl recruits a big man, and goes deep in the NCAA then he's done something.
