I have relatives with whom I'm close that went to Bama, Auburn, UGA, Miss St, UT, Texas and UVA.
From the Bama and Auburn relatives my experience is that both are bigger rivals with each other than to anybody else.

Saban says it because his record in the series makes him look good. As an objective football fan, you can’t argue against the Iron Bowl being the biggest grudge match rivalry in all of sports.

That has hurt Tennessee as well because Florida, Georgia, and Alabama all get up for Tennessee, even when Tennessee sucks. This helps explain why there hasn't been many "upsets" by Tennessee over these 3 during Dooley, Pruitt, Jones era.

I've always been mad about how UF and Bama played lights out against us when we sucked. You'd think after 10 straight wins they'd overlook us at some point, but they never did.

Based on Saban's comments, now we know why his teams never overlooked us.

Florida vs Tennessee games were often sloppy on both ends. I think Florida, as a team, has just been more confident against Tennessee.

I was just watching Gameday and Saban said that Tennessee was always considered the biggest rivalry game for Alabama when he coached there. I found that interesting because everybody in the media has been trying to make the Iron Bowl their biggest rival.

Bear Bryant used to say, “I don’t give a $h!t if we lose the rest as long as we beat Tennessee “! 107 yrs. I think we have beat them more than any other team they’ve ever played.

Tennessee coaches have been fired because they couldn't beat Alabama. The Third Saturday In October is THE game for the Vols. Florida is a close second, and I hate them as much as I hate any team Lane Kiffin coaches, but as a VFL, nothing beats beating Bama. Screw you, Gumps! How's that taste? Not so good? HAHAHAHAHAHA! No team has beaten Alabama more times than Tennessee. It matters to them…..
