Saban to Texas (Rumor that will most likely be False)

I could see Saban being wildly succsessfull in Austin without having to compete against the likes of Miles, Petrino and Chizik. Not to mention Austin is 1000 times a nicer town than the trailer park of Tuscaloosa.

Saban would be wildly successful @ MTSU.

I think after the six year agreement is up (or possibly before) Texas and OU will be bolting to the PAC 12. Not sure if that changes anything but Texas' competition could get stronger at some point than as it currently stands in the Big 12 right now.

This rumor is picking up steam and from a Bama grad, I hear there is a possibility and to go as far as Saban has been to Texas.

Wouldn't doubt it if they offered him a brazilian more dollars than Bama. Dude's a great coach but he still does it for the moneyz.

There may be more too this actually being true! 10 year 100 million offer. IF brown steps down in the next couple of weeks, it will be so much fun living in bamaland!

I saw it on the Alabama board the other day. I have seen it in several places, but most being things that are not 100% reliable.

Supposedly, Texas offered him 100 million for 10 years.

Several people aren't buying it, but a few Bama fans are worried.

the sooner he goes the better

Not that I think there is anything to the rumor, but I'm not sure anyone would turn down that offer. That's nearly own your own Island in the Caribbean type money.

Not to divert the thread, but how do you spend that kind of money? Geez...

Okay, I'll play along...
It's not about the money---Saban's got plenty---it's about history. NS has won BCS NC's at two SEC school's and he could improve upon that remarkable feat by winning a FBS/BCS NC at Texas (three different programs)...making history.

Texas is on another level when it comes to football and winning. I love the sec and Tennessee, but we do not even come close to the passion UTminor has for football.

Really?

Let's assume your argument has any base in reality (it doesn't). The money alluded in this rumor would make any coach a fool to ignore.

To say Texas is "on another level" than even second-tier SEC teams is ridiculous, if you live in any of the 49 states not named Texas.

Yes, football is huge in Texas. Guess what, it's huge in Tennessee. It's huge in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida as well (maybe not so much in Mississippi).

To goobslobber Texas at this point in time is a bit outdated. They aren't on "another level" - unless that level is quite a bit below the SEC.

If you are speaking of revenue ONLY, you might have a point... I've never really studied where brisket-eaters spend their money.

Thanks. Doesn't look 60! Anyway, I can't imagine him wanting to sign a ten year contract at his age!

I have to admit that I wished it would happen. It would be an absolute joy to watch the Bamers go into complete melt down.

I lived there for 7 years. Football is HUGE there. It doesn't mean they're good at it, but the fan support is amazing. High school football is a big deal, and even though college football there doesn't yield a lot of victories, fan support is still great.

Then I stand corrected :hi:

Also, I came off a bit snarky to Volinreallife, my point being that football in the Southeast is a pretty big deal as well. I should have just said that
