It seems that Nick Saban had worked hard to get Cornbread back to Tuscaloosa. His inability to add Pruitt to his staff is noted as a big reason he decided to hang it up. Here's a very interesting article. I'm glad Pruitt ended up screwing Bama too!

Why anyone would want Pruitt on staff is beyond me

It's an opinion of someone who likely doesn't have a clue

I read that article this morning. I'm not fully buying it. Pruitt would only have to wait a year, right? He could have been back already this year if that was the case.

Most anyone can be successful with a team full of 5 star, top of the heap athletes. He’s a stooge
He was great at Alabama, FSU, and Georgia. Georgia improved tremendously on D, jumping from 30-something nationally in total D to #4. He coordinated the #1 D in America and won a NC at FSU. Bama’s D dropped off after he left and they won multiple NCs with great D while he was there. When he’s doing it at multiple stops and those places aren’t as good before/after his tenure at each of those stops, guess what? It’s him.

His failure as a HC in no way affects his abilities as a DC. His success in that position at multiple schools speaks for itself.

If true then Fulmer has done it again!

Good conspiracy material. Plant Pruitt to destroy Tennessee then bring him back home. The Gumps miscalculated how Stupid Cornhead was and only intended for him to run program into ground. It becomes ironic that the McDonald capers is what saved Tennessee. We find evidence of the plant. Tennessee holding Aces now let’s things play out. Cornbread threatens to spill the beans and this scares the hell out of the gumps knowing how stupid he really is. Saben meets with cornbread and realizes he underestimated his IQ and it forced him into retirement before s*** hits the fan.

Was terrible as one at Tennessee and that is who our DC was.
I’m amazed at how many people on this thread know more about defensive coaching than Nick Saban.

No. He was Tennessee’s head coach, not defensive coordinator. Yes, he was the defensive play caller his first year and he did well with that (go back and watch the Auburn and Kentucky games for great examples).

The man knows defense. He’s one of the best defensive minds on the planet. That’s why Nick Saban, another defensive genius, wanted him as his DC. This isn’t that hard to understand.

Saban endorsed cornbread for the Tennessee job. Cornbread came to Knoxville and executed the plan accordingly

🙄 Not true. Players still have to be coached, you have to be able to scheme during the week and adjust on Saturday.

But, did your college bound daughter forego buying that $400 LBD to continue building savings for her matriculation? Did she imagine Lucifer’s Vessel sitting across from her at a diner as she firmed her resolve?
