Hadn't heard much about this kid until I read about Kiffin calling him.

Rivals.com rates Montgomery as a four-star prospect, the No. 53 overall player in the nation and the No. 3 weakside defensive end in the Class of 2009.


"Tennessee is definitely in it with me now, you can say that they are seriously in the mix," Montgomery said with a laugh. "I wasn't looking at them at all before really. They had recruited me some early, but then things kind of dropped off.

"I already liked coach Reaves a lot, and coach Kiffin is exciting. They came at me with a real plan and laid all the opportunities I would have on the table. You can pencil Tennessee in as one of my official visits right now."

Kiffin knows what to say to these kids.

It's becoming increasingly apparent that there won't be a talent gap between Tennessee and other SEC schools in years to come because Kiffin will bring in the best talent. The only question will be coaching. And I think he'll do just fine in that category.

Kiffin is impressive. It seems he picks up the phone and bam... a 4-star pencils us in. :rock:

Interesting thing Trooper is recruiting this guy for Ok St. Does he have a Top 5 or so?

the thing i'm loving with Kiffin is that he had a plan before he came to UT, he knew what he was going to do and he went to it.

This kid will be ours. He's making he choice on NSD. So after talking to Kiffin he pencils us in on one of his officials, so he must really love Lane. Also he will get to know Monte pretty well along with Coach O.

The SuperBowl is in Tampa on Feb 1. NSD is about that time of year. Monte could be playing in the SuperBowl. If that's the case, would his announcement occur before then? What day is NSD?

that's best case scenario for them. It's doubtful that the Bucs make it to the Super Bowl.

True, but it could happen. Looks like NSD is Feb 4th.

They'd have to announce or it will be about as well known as Lane's job and more like an 'introduction."

Tennessee is in his top 3. Dude runs a 4.44 40 as a DE. Freak of nature.

"Tennessee is going to get a visit in January, I'm going to take an official visit to LSU and I think I'm going to have to put Michigan in there as well," Montgomery said of his current plans. "Those are three right now, I'm liking those school a lot."

His offer list is a who's who of college football's elite. He'd be a huge get for Kiffin and co.

its funny because were recruiting him against Trooper Taylor from Ok. State ! lol

but he's got to be the most athletic DE in his class. 4.44.. WOW !

He's not goin to UT. You can talk all you want to me because I posted this but at the end of the day he won't be at UT.
