Sam Smith kills Whitney Houston cover

The old lady has been playing Sam Smith non-stop. She gets on kicks like no other. Last one was Phantagram. The repetition gets annoying, but I don't mind her taste in music.

I think Sam Smith is great, though I understand why folks would not enjoy his voice; it's distinctive.

From what I saw of the Grammys Annie Lennox had the best performance. She is an incredible talent.

Not sure why I think this is relevant here, but do you guys like Hozier? Pretty good stuff, IMO.

I'm just spreading some good music so if somebody doesn't like it, then so be it. Lets be clear though I lost nothing here nor was I "setting" anything up.

Coug so mad. Calm down, bro.

So are you gonna post some good music soon then?

My problem with Sam Smith is overexposure. That song gets played over and over. The first few times, it's catchy, but it quickly moves to annoying as hell when played repeatedly.

So I didn't really have any clue who Sam Smith was but the fiance had the Grammy's on last night until TWD started and she was explaining the Tom Petty issue to me and I immediately picked up on the similarity.

But am I crazy in thinking that John Legend should take issue with that song also?

There is absolutely NO similarity between those songs. I've heard the alleged similarities on national news twice and Tom Petty is just trying to get some free money.

Gotta disagree with you there. As I said, as soon as she mentioned something about Petty while the Smith song was on I knew right away that the song in question was "Won't back down". Does he deserve any money for it? I don't know that I'd agree with that but I definitely think there are similarities.

Okay… Just went and looked this up and I've got to say that I pretty much completely agree with you. There's no doubt that they are extremely similar. Now what should be done about it I don't know or care for that matter.

Um...you're completely wrong.

Just don't hear it.

If we're being honest though, with regard to music sounding similar, by this point most music is borrowed from somewhere else and it's mostly unintentional. On that note, Tom Petty should pay Bob Dylan for his whole career.
