While the Special Olympics did not want to make any comments about budget cuts, Channel 2 News looked into the governor's funding of the program.

Records show Palin actually increased their funding by $25,000. However, that amount is only half of what the program asked for.

The Department of Education in Early Development says funding for special needs and intensive needs has gone up $73 million since Palin took office.

Call me crazy, but I do not believe that tax payers should be paying for the majority of rape-kits. In the large majority of rapes, a rape kit is not needed to prove that penetration occurred by the suspected individual. Most rape and sexual assault cases revolve around whether or not consent was granted. For these cases, a rape-kit is a judicially unnecessary expense, which is usually incurred because the victim feels it is necessary.
