Wisconsin wins the coaching search match

Nebraska loses (in my opinion…if they do well…..he gone).

I think Fickell hung around too long at Cincy and ended up down the food chain. I have appreciated a couple of runs they had up there, but they are not a bell cow in the BIG.... Thought he projected better a few years back.

Have to see the Nebraska contract to assess the flight risk factor. They and OK both have enough history to maybe get back in the thick of it like we have this year with the right coach. Not sure how this brave new portal world will play at those places.

Left a lot of money at AU with two daughters being alum, and aligned with a lot of Tigers fans in a joint anti BAMA alliance during my near 3 decades working out of Huntsville, SOOOOOO I have to have a softer spot for them. With Bruce there and a top candidate list of Kiffin and Freeze they seem to be willing to accept the risk of coaches that will push the envelope. That football gig is pretty tough. I guess the allure of a previous Saban killer was too much to pass on. Not going to out Saban Saban so you take a different path I guess. The Yella wood guy better be on board. Not talked to anybody down there for the internal take yet. Wonder if Lane overplayed his hand. I would have thrown up if he had gone there, for I will pull for as many losses each year as possible for him wherever he is. I can hold a grudge for a long time. I was even happy the Pirate beat him and he is on my head case list too.

Auburn is joke. Tried to investigate Harsin and fire him for an alleged affair (bad fit right) and then hired Freeze as if his confirmed and accused history doesn't include hookers, fraud, witness intimidation, and minors.
Auburn will likely treat him like all other coaches. When the team has a dip, he is screwed. Coaching he is okay until they interfere, but Auburn is a micky mouse thinking operation.
Funds, grounds, prestige, and the conference matter none when the management eat pudding with their fingers. Auburn won the hire, but they are the most scummy program in all of Alabama and will screw it up. Freeze lost this one.

Freeze has been angling for the AU job ever since he got run out of OM. They deserve each other imo

Time will tell.

Auburn has screwed up boosters, but so do most SEC schools (us included)…although I will agree that Auburn has them on a different level. Only winning big can shut them up. It’ll be interesting to watch.

As I said in another post above, time will tell.

I seem to remember another fan base in a full meltdown after a coach named Heupel was hired. How has that worked out?

Freeze has won every place he’s been. I’ll be very surprised if he doesn’t win a significant amount at Auburn. Now, whether or not that will be enough to satisfy their crazy boosters and fan base could be a different story.

Has he?

I mean I remember him having one good year at Mississippi and one good year at Liberty.

I know he’s a good O guy and at least a good coach; however I’m not certain anyone can take anything he’s done previously and make much out of it………because there’s just not much there. It’s not bad…….but it’s not great either. Can he be successful with more resources? Maybe

However that will come with a TON on baggage. Auburn wasn’t were Tennessee was at and had been. I think most fans “thought” they could get better.
