It has been debated several times on here about rap and up tempo music being played during breaks in Neyland. Saturday it happened. Instead of boring introductions of past whatever or just band songs over and over, there was popular music being played and I think it added so much to the crowd. It keeps the crowd in it much better. Not only did they add this but they also let the band continue to play as well. They seemed to take turns. I loved the music. It kept the momentum of the crowd going throughout a timeout or break.

I'm in between on it. I'm not saying that it shouldn't have it's place but the majority of music should come from the band and they should play loud and proud.

How about we update "bands" with guitars, bass, maybe some violins and keyboards?

I bet TSO could get in on that

Marching banjo pickers.....20 or so of them....

riding Tennessee Walking Horse and 2 cheerleaders standing on the horses, with a pack of Blue Tick Hounds 40 or more and all singing or barking Rocky Top ,who would care about the rap then ? :)

I think the way our football team played had a much greater positive affect on the crowd than any music that was played , except Rockeytop. You could have had no music and fans would have been in the game, especially in the second half.

so 60,000 fans are over 60? That's not been my perception of the demographic. I will say that it will probably do more to get the students and younger fans into the seats. I'm 48 and really dislike the Rap music, but I see the value in trying to reach out to a broader and younger demographic. UT either changes with the times or gets left behind.:peace2:

BTW- my 12 year old son loved the music mix and can't wait to get back to another game. Something to be said for anecdotal results.

Note- I didn't even touch the ridiculous devil music comment.... Oh... I guess I just did.

let me guess anything that actually has people playing instuments and more than three basic chords is devil music.

I'm all for voodoo music, as long as they hire a witch doctor to spread chicken guts on the T to hex the opposing team.

I am 17 so of course I loved the music! But I also understand that some of the older people like the traditional band music... So I think it is perfect because they kept it balanced. We got a taste of both sides! BTW recruits (which our my age) love the new music that is played! So I hope we do this for good!

I could never do without our pregame and the Pride of the Southland presence, but that music did compliment the atmosphere. (yes, and I'm old, but I most of us old people have grandkids and we know what they listen too and can go along with it just fine)

It's been long overdue!!!! Other venues has been doing it a lot longer and the atmosphere was great. I'm 46 and enjoyed it. Finally UT gets it.

I'm 58 and loved the variety in music. the upbeat music fit the situation not some 70s or 80s worn out tune. Pots has gotten stale. Pick it up!

I'm 67 and like the beat of a lot of rap music. Whatever the kids like I'm for it as long as a balance is maintained with our traditions such as Rocky Top and Tennessee waltz. I come from the days before Rocky Top so its all good.

After attending all but 7 home games in the last 44 seasons, we finally hit the perfect mix of live band and recorded music! Somebody at UT does get it.

You also need to remember that UT had to put on a show for the 60+ highly valuable recruits in attendance for the UGA game.

They're the future of the product on the field which will determine a lot more games than the small number of codgers that were put off by "devil music".

I'm old. I had a blast Saturday. Loved everything (except the very last part of the overtime)
