It makes sense.Knew this was coming. Savannah Bananas fold collegiate team to focus on Banana Ball
Clever titleA relative down there sent me this article. She said some people liked real baseball with a touch of wacky and don’t like the end of it:
I've lost that lovin' peelin': My breakup letter to the Savannah Bananas

Great article and the gist was some of the Savannah locals feel a bit betrayed. Their local team just left them (and the Coastal Plains League) to barnstorm across the US seeking fame, glory, and the all-mighty dollar. Some would call it chasing the American dream and the byproduct of “growth”—-while others would call it greed and commercialism. Candidly, I’m not sure how I feel about it as I see truth from both sides.
The husband and wife owners followed their passion and risked their life savings to pursue their dreams….I guess that’s pretty neat that they are being financially rewarded. My take is they have created something very unique and special and have the potential to be a huge international success. It would have been nice to keep the Coastal team but I think ultimately that was holding them back.
I agree it’s easy to see it either way. I’ve often been asked what I thought of them. My response is ‘what do you want? A game that’s mostly baseball and some antics where you aren’t certain who is going to win, or a game that’s mostly antics and some baseball where you know who probably will win?’ Depending on what you want answers the question, so there’s not a wrong answer. I hope they do well.Great article and the gist was some of the Savannah locals feel a bit betrayed. Well said. Now, I need to figure out how to leave corporate America and make a living in baseball. . When I was in college, my dream job was in Marketing for the Atlanta Braves. The closest I’ve gotten is buying their tickets. Lol.I agree it’s easy to see it either way. I’ve often been asked what I thought of them. My response is ‘what do you want?
