Saw Lane this morning in CT

I saw good ole Lane Kiffin this morning in Stamford (recruiting that PSU RB):lolabove:.....said he actually loved his time in Knoxville, TN and if the USC job never opened we would be playing for a SEC and National championship this year.

Should have given him a falcon punch.

I do not like the way he left us high and dry in the middle of the night, let alone the middle of recruiting season. I hate the way HIS coaches tried to poach our recruits at the end, but................ I guess I agree with what he said, so .....flame away

Of course we would be in a better spot if Kiffin stayed. Not because he's a much better head coach, but because there wouldn't have been such a turnover in staff and recruits. Lane leaving after only 1 year sat us back at least 2 years.

Also, who says we can't compete for a SEC Championship this year? The SEC East really isn't as great this year as it has been in the past. UGA is slated to win it not because they are vastly superior but because they have a super easy schedule.

7-0 when alabama arrives is a possibility and MUST be Dooley's/the team's goal.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

I believe and agree with him. I think that he did enjoy his time in Knoxville (until a bunch of knuckleheads starting burning mattresses) and that our team would be very good if the USC job didn't open for him. I have no hard feelings. I would have done the same thing in a similar scenario. If I were coaching on the West Coast and my beloved Vols came calling, I would say, "Boys, I love you dearly and wish you the best, but I'm going home. Where do I sign?" Coach Kiffin, I'm glad you secured your dream job and know the opportunity was completely unforseen when you came to Tennessee. There were some things you could have handled differently, but it all happened fast and I'm willing to forgive those improprieties, especially when you have shown a willingness to admit and learn from mistakes. Things don't always go as we plan them because of unexpected things that come up, but I'm happy when things go well for others (like Kiffin) and plan to move forward with what we're dealt. Now, let's roll, Coach Dooley! GBO!

Why would Kiffin go to recruit Redd when apparently he has Joe Schad trying to do it for him?

In the big picture, Lane Kiffin set our program back 2 years, and we've had to endure the worst stretch of Tennessee football in the past 100 years as a result of it.

We rolled out the red carpet for him; as thanks he red-assed it out of town and tried to bring early-signees with him.

He's a little *****.

I saw the thread title and immediately thought this was going to be about Marlin Lane getting a CT, and that you probably had just committed a HIPPA violation.

I've been in healthcare too long.

He's a little **** but not the reason we are in the bottom half of the SEC.

We'd be better if everyone knew the difference between "then" and "than".

Kiffin then Dooley is exactly what we got.

The fact that the only thing you can argue with was my misuse of a word shows that I am right and you know it.

Classy post and I admire your character but I highly disagree. Screw him. Nothing about him has shown me that he has a "willingness to admit and learn from his mistakes". We were warned in full that he wouldn't have a problem selling us out. We accepted him with arms wide open, and he sold us out.

Honestly I don't think it will happen with USC, but if another west coast team had offered him more money he would have done the same thing and left us to coach them, then sold them out when USC came calling.

Its sad but its true, if he was our coach right now we would be a pre season top 10 team.

The NCAA would have laid the hammer down. LK would have never lasted with Haslam and bunch. How many of his recruits are left? I was a kool-aide drinker in 09'. I am so glad he is gone.

Several recruits left after he did. They came here because of Lane. Had he not left some of them might have stayed.

Agree. But you have to admit he brought trouble to knoxville. He would have never lasted with Slive. The other coaches had no respect for him. Va. Tech helped make his decision. The AA was easy on us because he left and we let Hammy go. The AA let SC have it after LK was hired. The arrogant AD was fired not long after. We are much better off.

Well, since Kiffin has our only winning season since 2008, I'm gonna say....no.

Short term, we may have been better off.

Long term, we are better off now with Dooley.

Kiffen may be a great recruiter and good coach, but he has a little too much trouble with him and doesn't represent what UT is about.
