What horribly lame phrase will Jimmy Dykes use tonight? My personal favorite, "Drive the ball to the nail."

My favorite is "He has the biggest valentine of anybody in the country"

I hate the drive it to the nail saying.....makes me want to punch a baby in the face

"If your late, you won't be great" or "if you get beat, you want eat" are two favorites.

I like Dykes overall, but boy does he have some annoying phrases. Not only that, he repeats them about 100 times throughout the broadcast.

Is he referring to the basket or the free throw line? I remember him saying "whoever wins the nail wins the game", but I thought he was referring to the nail in the middle of the free throw line. Hell, he probably doesn't know what he means.

he did mean the one at the FT line (he did a stupid demo during the game about the nail)

Yea he thinks whoever can get to the free throw line, has many options on attacking the defense.

IDK what to expect from Dykes tonight. The UF he did the entire broadcast from inside of Erving Walker's jockstrap though. I imagine if Hopson plays like he has the previous 3-4 games then you will hear the beginning of Dykes infatuation with one, Scotty Hopson.

Go Vols!!!

My personal favorite is when he brings out the white board only to describe this dynamic play the team needs to execute only to draw a squiggly line from the inbounds to the top of the key, then a big squiggle and say something to the effect of that is how they need to work to be successful.

He can be annoying some times but he was always pretty high on Lofton so I didn't mind his annoying phrases all the time. MAN do we miss Lofton!!! haha

The sad thing is, I think he really knows what he is talking about.
