Someone give the man a chance! It's a 10 day contract for goodness sakes.

Ran into his agent in court before the holidays. He said Lofton is really happy to be back in the States. Iowa is probably the best team in the league. That'll help Lofton's chances. The NBA is looking for guys coming in from the D League to do a job and keep their mouths shut. Plenty of guys who put up big numbers in that league don't get a shot because personnel guys see they are doing it at the expense of the team.

Scotty Hopson can attest to the fact that that doesn't mean too much.

Hopefully Lofton's reputation precedes him.

I'd actually like to be wrong on this one. Lofton lived in my building for a while this offseason. He's a legitimately good guy. I just can't see an NBA team saying they want him over other available options.

Agreed. Never thought he would make it, hope he does.

I never got the impression that Chris would do anything but that. I hope he gets a chance. Am I wrong to think that if J.J. Redick can do it, so can Chris?

Reddick is bigger, a better athlete, and a better ballhandler. There's not really anyone Lofton's size in the league I can think of who isn't at least a good NBA level ballhandler.

Heres to him being successful where ever that is!

Loften always seemed to be a good guy, and was fun to watch at UT.

What's that based on? Like a better vert? I remember Pearl saying Chris was one of the strongest guys on the team fwiw. And (excluding his senior season obviously) Chris never seemed to have any fatigue issues

Lofton is strong, has quick hands, has good body control, and has good straight-line speed.

Lofton does not have great lateral quickness, and of course he can't jump.

And therein lies the problem: he doesn't have height, lateral quickness, or leaping ability. That makes him a liability on defense.

I can't attest to Eddie House's ball handling but I think Lofton could at least turn into that type of player in the NBA.
