He might as well have been when he was playing in Turkey. He's made some good money. Now, he's come back stateside to take a serious run at making the league. If I were an NBA GM, I wouldn't sign him. That said, he's a Hell of a lot more likely to get called up from the D League than he was from the suburbs of Istanbul. The bottom line is that Lofton hasn't been living under a rock.
I want to say Lofton is too slow to defend and be a good ball handler in the NBA. But there are a few exceptional players.
Larry Bird, Pete Maravich and John Stockton made it through hard work. Bird was 6'9.5" and played forward and was the probably the hardest working guy in the NBA at the time. Maravich played with a knee brace at the end of his career. But John Stockton was 6'1" and average quickness by nba standards playing till age 41, but awesome ball handler and hard worker.
He can work his way up if he continues to shoots lights out and works on his defense and ball handling. Time is short though.
Chris Jackson was a 15 point a game scorer for his career in the NBA. The only thing he "really struggled" with was being told he had to be a phony and stand at attention during the National Anthem like a Boy Scout.Oklavol, no disrespect but this is an awful comparison. You just named 3 of the greatest players in basketball history and compared them to CL. I look at Chris Jackson as a comparison. CJ was one of the greatest players in college basketball history and really struggled in the NBA. He was quicker, a better shooter and had a lot better hops I think Lofton can contribute but it's a longshot. It took Reddick a few years to contribute and that guy was as money as they came at Duke. Lofton just may be a career nbdl or europlayer, which is fine. I wish him the best.

Looks like Lofton is headed back to Turkey to take Iverson's place. It's apparently a pretty big chunk of money. Kudos to Jared Karnes.
