Say what you want about CCM...

Plus our SEC schedule isn't as hard this year. I just get tired of everyone wanting CCM gone.

I've said for awhile I don't see less than 10 wins, the SEC is just that bad. Now if golden is done for the year, Mcbee is hurt all year, reese is on and off then who knows, but assuming those guys along with edwards return healthy fairly soon...I don't see less than 10 wins, too many BAD teams, and this year we are beating BAD teams.

We may be losing to some good ones, but luckily we've only got 4 games against really good teams in conference.

Win these next 2 games and we are in very good shape.

Fluff Martin all you want. Bottom line after last night is he's 0-3 against a coach that is a consensus failure.

Not sure if we have players or not with the offense running the four corners.

We beat Memphis in the second half of this game.
The rest of the season is on Martin.
If he can make the right adjustments we can still win 20.
If not it'll be another season like his first at MS.
If we see the same starting line up and game scheme against Ole Miss, I'd say his fate is sealed.

You do realize that CCM is only in his 2nd year right? And he wasn't lucky enough to inherited a Lofton or J Smith. He inherited a McBee and Kenny hall lol. Look at some of the players CCM has already recruited. Richardson, Yemi, Stokes (yes he isn't living up to his potential), Reese (only one game but looks like he is going to be a stud.) Not only did he evaluate talent and not just stars, he evaluated good character. (Not Ramar, Duke, Tabb, T Smith, etc) Pearl went for athletes and stars (Wooldridge and Hall) a good evaluator wouldn't have looked at their name and stars, they would look at their game basketball IQ. I was a huge Pearl supporter and I have no problems with him, he simply made a mistake and lied, we all have. I just get tired of hearing people say "bring back Pearl"...CCM is going to be fine. He has been unlucky with injuries so far, but don't forget he went 2nd in the SEC last year and still has a chance this year to do the same.

Before Pearl's first yr we were picked to finish at the bottom of the SEC and noone was claiming that he had a lofton and a J Smith......Did the players make Pearl or did Pearl make the players memorable?

CCM followed a great, popular coach at Tenn......you will hear bring back Pearl and fire Martin until he proves he can win at or exceed Pearl's level....it comes with the territory and why they get more than compensated for the high expectations.

This board is way too harsh in evaluating both CCM and CJP. "Consensus failure" is idiotic.

Richardson and McRae had career-best games, but going forward, what a great time to have them. Martin now has real options on offense; Stokes will benefit also. McBee will be better off the bench.

Good luck; let's play in Atlanta next spring.

I loved Pearl, but he left the program with less talent than he inherited.

Pearl played Stephen over Maymon.

Pearl gave us Kenny Hall, who CCM has turned into a contributor.

Pearl had a knack for getting kids that would leave the program early because of trouble.

Pearl was clinging to Tony Jones, who has no talent at anything basketball related. Kind of like Fulmer and Pat Washington.

Pearl accomplished a lot, but no way we're a way better team right now if he stayed.

I said it last night....

If this game makes McRae and Richardson turn the corner, and McRae a 15-18 a night guy...this loss was worth it. If McRae brings that level of play every night he's gonna earn himself a spot on a NBA roster.

Really think it's on Martin.
He has the talent as exhibited second half 9 point advantage.
If he's not willing to change, he's done here.

He's 3-0 against five national championships (Calhoun and Donovan).

Can't play that game.

But his teams never give up! How many games did we watch of Bruce Pearl ball, where we were down and rolled over. Yes his offense is a little painful on the eyes at times, but his defense keeps us in games and it brings us back when we are down.

Watching Richardson and McRae bring this team back was something special. Richardson is now our leader as a Sophomore until we get Maymon back! The kid has heart and skill. He has a nice mid range jumper that has disappeared in this day and age of basketball. With Maymon, Reese, Edwards, and Golden hurt or whatever is going on with him, I'm proud of our vols tonight!

Name a game Bruce's teams gave up. I can't remember hardly any.

Seriously?

How about Kentucky at home in 2009 when Jodie Meeks went for 54? Michigan in 2011? College of Charlestion in 2011 when they gave up 91 points?

It's not like McRae and Richardson just joined the team. Martin has no offensive philosophy. His defense is good, but when a team shreds you like last night, he's in trouble.

It's quite clear that he does have an offensive philosophy that stifles his player's talents.
When he abandons it his players put up points.
He either develops a much different philosophy or he's done.
Can you imagine Hubbs playing in the first half of this game.
Talk about wasting talent.

I agree with you on this cal. Looks like CCM has a team of greyhounds and wants then to play like St Bernards.

Hopefully Hubbs' development goes better than Stokes.

Not sure if it's more on Stokes or the coaching, but he's taken a huge step back this season.

Give Stokes a break. He has zero support in the front court. Hall is as streaky as they come, and Yemi is not well-rounded. Plus, all three of them are really 5's and sort of struggle to play the 4.

A competent 4 man, like Maymon, will allow Stokes to play more comfortably.

Almost certainly so, but Maymon was putting up big numbers and carrying the team without Jarnell. And, yes, I know he was older, but Maymon had less college playing experience in early 2011/2012 than Jarnell has in early 2012/13.

Stokes should have dominated last night, with Shaq in foul trouble CJP was forced to play Stephens in the post but stokes just couldn't get it going.

BTW .... Wilson and Hall are terrible........
