Our Scholar of the week is going to be Miloh.

I'll off with these questions:

Who is your favorite writer?

What is your favorite book?

What have you learned from Volnation?

How did your short stint as a Moderator working alongside such mental giants impact your life?

Do you get a bigger thrill from modding your ride or from playing your guitar?

How long have you been playing guitar? My son is 2 and a half and is obsessed with the guitar. How early should I start getting him lessons?

My favorite writer is Tucker Max. I like his book, I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell. It gives me thoroughly offensive stories to retell to friends and relatives.

I've learned a lot of things about VN...

Real people come out on the internet. When one doesn't have to show their face, they have the biggest cajones on Earth. I learned a lot about myself, too. Reasonably bright and talented, and I like to go against the grain a lot. I'm a left coaster through and through posting a board populated largely by southerners (I learned that we're not so different -- but I'm not a typical PNW hippie dippie, either). I'm a Playstation guy on a board full of XBox sheep. I love Pac-10 football, and I'd say most people here have sort of a passing interest in SEC football.

But dealing with people here, the real extreme versions of theirselves, helps me deal with that the few times real people come out in real life.

My last moderating position was much easier. I'm going to leave it at that.

Modding my ride can suck sometimes. Going fast afterwards pays off. :)

It's all thrills, man. It's how I get along.

How does "it" feel?
Moist, or used. Take your pick.

I started when I was about 10, then quit for a couple years, then picked it back up when I was 13 or 14. I've played every day that I can since then, though it's admittedly harder to push myself to get better now that I haven't been playing in a band for about a year.

That's cool that your son is big on guitars. I'd say the first day he comes home with homework (Actual homework - Like arithmetic or something). If he's old enough to do that, he's old enough to start learning guitar. A good instructor will send him home every week with some excercies. Have him work on it after he's done with his homework. It's a good way to build both a good hobby and good habits for the future.

Imho u distance yourself from Volnation, possibly why you left moderating here. You seem to realize a full disclosure means we have a full view of Milo and that scares you. You seem at times to have your finger on the pulse of the SEC and at times are on the outside lookin in...why?

Depends on what is going on in my life. When I'm back in school, I'll be working on cars for 25 hours a week, and then working at Best Buy another 40 hours a week. I play music and am an active member of numerous car clubs and meets on top of that. Freak's done an amazing job with this board, and it's absolutely blown up because of it. Makes it very difficult to keep up with the main board.

I'd like to think I have nothing to hide... Even if I did, I'm 2,000 miles away.

Milo,

Why do you feel that Best Buy is kicking Circuit City's a$$?
A few reasons...

1. Very in depth sales training process. Most employees will get a solid 80-100 hours of pure training before they even hit the floor for a full day. We have to know the ins and outs of every part of the store, ethics, policies, etc.

2. Geek Squad. GS has been hugely successful for Best Buy. I know a big complaint about Best Buy has always been computer sales staff not knowing enough about their product. The team at our store includes two guys that have been computer engineers for over 25 years, two kids who are more brilliant with computers than I've ever seen, and others who know it like the back of their hand. Having 2-3 of them on staff at all times is huge.

3. Non-commission. Commissioned sales staff makes going to other places crappy. I do a lot of work in car electronics, and I always hear customers complain about Car Toys. I hear customers across the store complain about Fry's. It makes it like a used car lot anywhere you go. Like I said in the HDTV thread, you can buy a plasma display or an RCA cable from me. No skin off my back, I'm getting paid the same either way, and Best Buy's promotions are based off of managerial skills, not sales ability.

Milo have you ever met Tim Tebow?:wavey:
I can only hope to be so lucky one day.

If you happened to be in the Delaware, Ohio area, would you dog sit for my two coonhounds and bloodhound?

I love Portland. Still my favorite city out there. It's big but not crowded. The weather is perfect - no humidity, winters are only about 45 degrees, while summer is 80-90 every day for about 4 months. Not nearly as much rain as one might expect. Tons to do, I can (and have) gone snowboarding, fishing, hiking and surfing in one weekend. No sales tax is nice. I don't have to stay up late to watch sports.

I've snowboarded Mt. Hood numerous times, I usually go at least 2-3 times a winter. I'd prefer if it was more like 20-30 times a year, though. There's a lift that goes almost to the top, but getting to the peak is unreachable by foot during winter. You have to take a chopper up. Some of my friends have chopper dropped from the peak, which I want to try some day.

Oh, and one last thing. All you guys need to take some time and hit up a Portland beer festival. After that, you won't disagree that my city is the beer capital of the country.

I recommend getting him a tiple or maybe a ukelele first then a tiple. (properly pronounced 'tee-play' but lots of people just call them tipples.)

These instruments are smaller and easier to handle for a small guy.

Besides hardly anyone playes the tiple these days and they make beautiful music in the right hands.

For instance if you've ever heard the recording 'Bill Monroe's first night on the Opry', you would think he is playing a mandolin but he is actually playing a tiple.

Besides, learning to tune the tiple is sort of like passing an engineering course.

I've always wanted to ask, do you have any connection at all to Vol sports or to the Univ or state of Tennessee?

He has some family in Tennessee I think, but pretty sure the reason he joined VN was that he went to the same high school as Erik Ainge.
