Too bad he was the only one who thought he was ready for the NBA

Would've liked to seem Tobias and Scotty on this team under CCM, of course we may not have landed stokes then either. Hypothetically speaking though, would've liked to seen Tobias and Scotty on this team.

Do you disagree? I thinks it's too bad, I think he'd have benefited from playing under CCM.

Everyone knows he mucked up that whole situation. It has been discussed here as throughly as Kiffin's suckiness has been discussed in the football forum. Just trying to move on.

I will request that this thread be deleted if it turns into a Hopson mudslinging-fest. We already have several threads for that.

He wasn't the only one who thought he was NBA ready.
His "advisers" thought so too.

I have long suspected that Hopson was in danger of not being academically eligible had he returned for another season. So, it was now or never.
However, could you image if Hopson & Harris had been on last seasons team? Stokes, Hopson & Harris.... We would have gone further than the N.I.T. and Martin would have had Scotty playing much, much better.

Oh ok definitely agree, not trying to turn it into that type of thread.

Congrats to Scotty on the performance, hope good things are to come.

Oh well, I should have known it would turn. Gave VN a little too much credit this time.

You know anything about Nike Pro City? I don't think I've heard of it before.

Wait, he had 47 and got fouled. Did he miss both FTs, or was that an earlier "almost highlight?"

If it's the same league that they play in NYC, I've seen it before. I think it use to go by a different name before but when I was in NYC about three years ago, I wanted to check out Rucker Park and was asking a few questions to this guy. I never made it to Rucker Park but he told me about the league. Said there were a lot of NYC guys, Big East players, and a couple of NBA guys that played some. So basically, a hyped up version of the RTL. I don't recall that gym but remember it was a JUCO gym they played in.

Also, thanks for posting! Still can't believe he didn't make a summer league roster or if he even tried.

I believe he did try and no one wanted him. I remember seeing a interview he did for some NBA team on you tube and you would have thought Scotty was in sixth grade with some of the answers he gave. I mean, Chism and Maze have done well overseas, and both had less raw talent IMO, so it's hard to believe Scotty isn't working on his game more to get picked up by a Euro team etc. I love anyone willing to work for UTK and give their all on the court for us, but it's still hard to watch someone with so much talent go so little compared to where they could have been. Scotty was arguably the most talented guard to come out of high school and play for us in the last 20 years. His upside was bigger then anyone's I've ever seen since I remember. I think most of us all thought he'd be a 17-20 PPG SG by his Sophomore year when he first came out of high school. It would have been fun to see him with CCM considering the strides Maymon and Golden made in just one year. Same could be said for T. Harris as well. I just wish Hopson would have stayed around another year. A kid with that much talent could soon bloom under the right coach and system. A change of staff could have really helped Hopson out, as I believe CCM is a great player developer. I think we all wish Hopson, and all other VFL for that matter, good luck, but I think all the basketball fans who bleed orange and follow Vols basketball day to day will always view Hopson in the back of the mind as a "what if" type of player. What if Hopson hit those FTs. What if Hopson stayed under CCM for another year. What if Hopson learned to be a better defender. All those what ifs comes from seeing so much raw talent and so little production. Just my :twocents:
