Scotty Hopson goes for 47 in Nike Pro City (video)

I believe he did try and no one wanted him. I remember seeing a interview he did for some NBA team on you tube and you would have thought Scotty was in sixth grade with some of the answers he gave. I mean, Chism and Maze have done well overseas, and both had less raw talent IMO, so it's hard to believe Scotty isn't working on his game more to get picked up by a Euro team etc. I love anyone willing to work for UTK and give their all on the court for us, but it's still hard to watch someone with so much talent go so little compared to where they could have been. Scotty was arguably the most talented guard to come out of high school and play for us in the last 20 years. His upside was bigger then anyone's I've ever seen since I remember. I think most of us all thought he'd be a 17-20 PPG SG by his Sophomore year when he first came out of high school. It would have been fun to see him with CCM considering the strides Maymon and Golden made in just one year. Same could be said for T. Harris as well. I just wish Hopson would have stayed around another year. A kid with that much talent could soon bloom under the right coach and system. A change of staff could have really helped Hopson out, as I believe CCM is a great player developer. I think we all wish Hopson, and all other VFL for that matter, good luck, but I think all the basketball fans who bleed orange and follow Vols basketball day to day will always view Hopson in the back of the mind as a "what if" type of player. What if Hopson hit those FTs. What if Hopson stayed under CCM for another year. What if Hopson learned to be a better defender. All those what ifs comes from seeing so much raw talent and so little production. Just my :twocents:

Wow.

Would've liked to seem Tobias and Scotty on this team under CCM, of course we may not have landed stokes then either. Hypothetically speaking though, would've liked to seen Tobias and Scotty on this team.

would of liked to seen those 2 under CCM.

So he's not even playing NBA summer league?

The NBA summer league was cancelled the yr he came out bc of the lockout. Rarely do players come back to play in it unless they have been picked up on a roster. The pay overseas is too good to fool with the nba summer league.

I will always support a Vol. I just wish he woulda stayed with CCM for a year. Martin had those guys playing all-out. Hopson sometimes lacked that. His talent is undeniable, though. Do us proud, Scotty! VFL

Seems like it's pretty common to me. The summer league rosters this year were made up of lots of undrafted players from previous years, with a lot of them having played in international leagues.

I guess rarely was the wrong word usage....several players dont feel the summer leagues are worth it and are happy overseas and are getting paid very well also. It was more than likely Scotty's choice not to play in the summer leagues than the NBA teams.

Probably agree with you there. I read that he had a free agent tryout with the Grizzlies prior to the start of summer league. Either he turned down the chance to play in the summer league or he didn't get an invite.
