Vincent seemed to never play up to his ability. Is Scotty headed down the same road? Your thoughts?

I think it's a great comparison. Both thought they were 1 and done, both seemed to turn it on when they wanted, similiar personalities, etc. Yarbrough did flourish his last year, after a coaching change

While Hopson has not yet played up to his potential, he is still miles ahead of Yarborough. Vincent was a leaper with no ouside shot and no handle. One of the most over-rated prospects we ever signed, IMO. At least Scotty can shoot from outside a bit, plus Scotty at least thinks about what he is doing, even if he can't always execute. Vincent was all over the place.

Tony Harris was most overrated player we ever signed. Imo,jmo, tifwiw
Yarbrough had just as much skill and potential as Hopson IMO

I can still remember Penny Hardaway saying that Tony Harris was ready for the NBA straight out of high school:blink:

Loved watching Yarbrough shoot 17-20ft fade away jump shots over defenders 2-3 inches shorter than him.

Yarbrough did have a cup of coffee in the league, but the flat trajectory jump shots didn't stick. In contrast, Hopson brings down water with some of the parabolas he throws up there. Other than that, they seem to play a similar type of game.

All shots are parabolas, due to the fact that gravity is quadratic with respect to time.

Well, they're both wings, both athletic, both came in with lots of hype.

But Scotty is a better slasher than Yarbrough ever was. Scotty may be frustrating at times, but when he's at his best, he does things I never saw Vincent do.

Also, Scotty has one more year of eligibility, if he elects to use it, so his story isn't quite over...

Yarbrough wasn't in the same system for his type of athleticism. I think if it had Pearls pressing khaos Yarbrough could have possibly performed at higher level.

So woulkd Yarbrough's brother, Del Baker, be comparable to Cam Tatum?

Haha. Details, details...

Baker was terrible and barely saw significant action. How Tatum still managed to get big min is beyond me this season. We only got Baker cause it was a package deal for Yarbrough IMO

Vincent Yarbrough's 4-year career makes him one of the top ten-fifteen Vols of all time. Even though he "underachieved," he is VASTLY underrated by Vol fans, especially on this board. He was a GREAT rebounder and defender. He was also a Wildcat killer.

1. King
2. Houston
3. Grunfeld
4. Tony White
5. Ellis
6. Ron Widby
7. Chris Lofton
8. Reggie Johnson
9. Dyron Nix
10. Yarbrough (3rd in steals, 6th in rebounding, 6th in blocks, 8th in points)
11. Ron Slay
12. Johnny Darden
13. Mike Edwards
14. Carl Widseth (who I know nothing about)
15. Gene Tormohlen (the same)
16. Rodney Woods
17. C.J. Watson
18. Brandon Wharton
19. Isiah Victor
20. Tony Harris or Steve Hamer
