Scouts Top 25 Recruiting Rankings Preview

What's great is that they list at least one player for every team in that poll except Tennessee.

I'm surprised we are even in the top 25. We shouldn't be.

Are Vol fans deluding themselves? This is a mediocre class. It will end as a mediocre class. I am hopeful of a late surge in commits, but it doesn't look good right now.

It seems a lot of posters feel that a deluge of commitments is coming our way. Hate to break it to you, but it will likely not happen. This class will be lean in numbers and light on talent, barring a couple (Oku, Askew, e.g.).

The Tajh Boyd split, I feel, sent an odd message to some recruits. I'll bet Kiffin will eventually regret his decision - most likely after he's had a few practices with Moe, Larry, and Curly (Crompton, Stephens, and Coleman).

Boyd would have made a great Schemp.

This post is complete garbage. Do you write for Scout by any chance??

We are in a very good position to fill a lot of needs and will be getting some very good players at some skill positions. The only area we may fall short of our goals in is OL. I think we really need to add another high caliber O-lineman, but I don't think we will. Every other area is being adequately addressed. This class is a top 15 class right now and a lot of teams right in front of us are pretty much done. I expect to add around 8 more guys and we will be sitting right out of the top 10. This class won't be stellar by UT standards, but we will be one of the top 5 classes in the SEC and are setting a real good foundation for next year's class.

I think most of us will be very happy with the guys that we are going to end up with regardless of where any recruiting service ranks us.

When are you launching your own recruiting site, so I can make a mental note to not subscribe to it?

I'm happy with the class and the outlook for the team. We are going to finish strong. I know we said that last year but a lot different feel than last year.

I thought that what was said on Scout wasn't too bad. We did do ok, not great but ok. You have to ask yourself, "Had we not gone through so many changes in this offseason would it be better or without those changes would we be worse off?" I think we have some good things to look forward to in next year's class. I don't think this is going to be a great season however. Probably end up ranked about as good as our recruiting class. Got to better than 5-7 though, got to be. GO VOLS.

Why worry about the rankings before NSD? If PF had not been fired and landed a top 5 recruiting class we still would have been in the same boat. The previous staff did a horrible job at coaching positions and elevating a players ability. The new staff will be starting with a clean slate and positions are open which I think brings about better competition which will reflect on the field. This whirlwind about Boyd is also crazy, who is to say that A: Boyd would have made it here as a QB B: Would Boyd been reluctant to try for a different position if he could not been the starting QB C: When Kiffin met with Boyd perhaps Kiffin detected a lack of football IQ or, a different outlook of the role of a QB in his offense or, C: Kiffin has his eye on a QB for 2010 that he feels would beat out Boyd and that would have created more harm then good from a PR perspective.

Exactly:good!:

There is not one successful run/pass QB in the Pros! Yeah they might win some games but will lose a lot more! We need ProStyle QB's and Boyd is not that guy. So who cares! If I was a recruit I would think that Knoxville is not playing around they only want the talent that will fit their system. They are not just taking guys who have high Stars!

Not to argue, but I would like to have a QB to go with another O-linemen.. I must admit thought they have done a good job with the little time they had.. I was afraid we would loose a lot of the commits that fulmer had nad the managed to hold to all of them too.... I do think Kiff will 2nd guess the boyd thing.. I could be worng though.. Our OC had made some pretty darn good QBs out of questionable talent.. Look at D. Breeze (spelling??))

I think we finish in the top 15, when the final rankings come out. Which is not bad. I am expecting top 5 for next year's class, though.

Given how late we got in the game for most of these recruits, im very excited about our class. Normally coaching changes result in horrible recruiting classes that yr but we are still in the top 20 and with what we have coming to campus the next couple of weeks, we could easily have a top 10 class. It aint over till they see Knoxville!!!:dance2:

scout is a bunch of dang retards, but i did like what they said about this being the lowest ranking for a while.

Wouldn't this be considered a projected recruiting class. As I understand it we won't know what we have 'til NSD. Am I wrong in that thinking?

You deem my post complete garbage, mainly because you have a different opinion. Sorry if you have a tough time dealing with the truth. Exactly my point - you are one of the delusional.

We are certainly not in a "good position" to address the 2 greatest areas of deficiency: QB and OL. And considering the hiring of Monte Kiffin, it is very disappointing that UT hasn't secured any high-profile DTs or LBs. I surmise that the new coaching staff and their respective reputations seem more appealing to the fans than to the undecided student-athletes.

I would love to be psyched about this incoming class. But days and days pass without news of any decent commitments.

Listen to even your own words - "adequately addressed". "Adequate" will not beat Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, or as in the case of last year, Wy-freaking-oming. Listen to your own words - "5th in the SEC". Out of 12 - nothing to brag about. Not to mention 3rd or 4th in the SEC EAST! Out of 6. Listen to your own words - "setting a real good foundation for next year's class". I am not talking about next year. This year's recruiting class will be mediocre.

So, in retrospect, thank you, Saban, for backing up my assertions. Guess it wasn't so much garbage after all.

Face the facts.

Your expectations are unrealistic. You're not even thinking clearly. When you have unrealistic expectations, you will be disappointed constantly. I don't expect that will change for you anytime soon.

Excellent retort. Extremely insightful. Well-researched and well-thought-out. A paragon of logical analysis.

You don't know me. You don't know my expectations. You can only stoop to base generalizations and mild insults. Not surprising, really.

How about offering counter-arguments or facts that stand contrary to my beliefs? Because there aren't any that hold any relevance or truth.

Oh, and for the record, simpleton, I don't think finishing in the top third of the SEC East is an unrealistic expectation.

Why would I waste my time with you? You obviously have your mind made up on what you are going to think and I doubt you would allow facts to interfere with that way of thinking. Pretty clear that that's what you're doing anyway.

Funny though that you accuse me of insulting you in the same post that you insult me in a much more brash manner. Have some integrity for god's sake.

Not a Lane Kiffin fan.

Pretty obvious. He's one of those that will tear down anything the man does because he has his mind made up about him. I'm not going to waste my time arguing with him. Pretty obvious that he's disregarding facts and logic already in forming his opinion so presenting more facts and logic would be pointless.

take it easy champ. i'm not overly impressed yet, but kiffin got into the game late and has alot of talent coming in the next 2 weeks. if we don't land atleast 5 big names well i'll be alittle disappointed but i'm willing to give him chance to see what he can do. in my opinion the guy is a pretty smart dude. so have a shot of jack friend and chill and check back at NSD and hopefully the party will be in knoxville as we pull in a top 10 class.:salute:
