From Wes Rucker:

Just heard from Cuonzo Martin that Vols hoops will scrimmage Georgia Tech in Chattanooga on Oct. 28.

Maybe my mind is blank but I'm not sure I can remember the last time we had a "secret scrimmage."

That may explain why we only have one exhibition this year, usually it's two.

With the extra practices, good Italy experience, ga tech scrimmage this team should be primed for a great start out of the gate, could be a very special season.

Looking at just talent on paper I was thinking sweet 16 would be it at best, but I'll tell you what. With this very favorable schedule, a 22-25 win season, and 2/3 seed in the NCAA is definitely plausible. You get that good of a seed and anything can happen, we maybe could see another elite 8 run.

Loving what CCM is doing!!!

Ron Lewis saying its a new NCAA rule that is allowing CCM to do this. He rather play this scrimmage against G Tech than a 2nd exhibition.

For us 'Noogans, I wonder if we'll be able to get in and watch it. Likely it will be played at UTC.

Also, some of these games are pretty awesome. I remember Gonzaga and Texas played a couple of years back and Kansas and Syracuse if I'm not mistaken. Pretty awesome to think about two highly talented teams playing in front of nobody lol.

That makes it NCAA compliant.

I'm showing up anyway! If they catch me, I guess both teams will end up on probation. Just a risk we'll have to take. :p

BTW, used to have a PE evening class under the arena and went up the stairwells to more than a few concerts back in my Moc days.

These games have been going on for some time. I think Vandy played UNC recently in a scrimmage. Within the last couple years.

They make something or they wouldn't hold it at all. Hamilton always did like his Benjamins.

Im just curious how much it possibly could be. Tickets are $10 and they only sell around 10k iirc, so 100k? They pay these teams around 75-80k don't they? I know you gotta ad concessions, but after adding in building costs and employee pay for all the staff running TBA, I can't imagine they make a whole lot.

Maybe I'm wrong.

I would be shocked if those teams get more than 5-10k game guarantee

It's not brand new. It's just the first time we've used it. The team will probably be better prepared for the season with a scrimmage against a D-1 team. But, the flip side is sacrificing a little bit of revenue.

Its what Lewis said, obviously he was wrong. We wanted to in the past but Hamilton wouldn't allow pearl.
