Just go ahead and offer Anderson a spot too...IF Scroggins is willing to commit. If he (JS) thinks he's good enough to work with on the field, then give him what he's asking for. If Anderson isn't good enough for real PT, then just have him riding the pine. We could stand to waste one WR spot on a mediocre kid, if that could solve our QB issue.
All the outstanding QBs in the world won't mean much if you've got Nick Stephens throwing the ball to them.
If Jerry Anderson = Jesse Scroggins, it seems like a pretty easy decision. Offer Anderson. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot.
If I understand it correctly, Preferred walk-on means you're first in line to get awarded a scholarship if/when one becomes available. What is the difference in a walk on and a preferred walk on?
I normally wouldn't want us to waste a scholarship on someone the coaches believe will never contribute much, but it IS worth it to land what you think is your marquee QB.Just go ahead and offer Anderson a spot too...IF Scroggins is willing to commit. Thing is, we could get stuck with Anderson and no Scroggins. If I were CLK, I might consider turning the tables on Scroggins a little bit with this.
I'd tell him bluntly, "If you commit to us, we'll take a chance with him and offer your cousin too." If not, we're frankly going to be a lot less inclined to do so at this point. Right now, offering him is a high risk for us, but it's a risk worth taking if you're here throwing him the ball"
