SDS dire prediction

If we're honest we have to admit that we are probably no better than 5-7 on paper. However, we all know that an oval shaped ball that is pointed on both ends is going to have some funny bounces. We are due to have Pig hang on to the football as he crosses the goal line, Clint Stoerner to fumble instead of allowing time to run down, Casey Clausen to convert 4th and 17 in overtime, and Mike Terry to intercept a pass in the end zone with 17 seconds left.

We are due for some miracles.

theres still kids along the d line who have played enough snaps but werent "starters". Then you have Curt coming back. I know we are inexperienced but we are not as bad as some people make us out to be. Hell Utah State has 13 DL on their roster and only 5 have ever played a D1 snap at USU. The problem is half of these hack jobs couldnt name ten players on our team. Bama will have a freshman at Left Tackle, Ole miss played two freshman on the line last yr with a freshman TE. Having unknowns doesnt make you a worse football team like all these "experts" say. We have had an experienced OL/DL the last 3 years and they have still under performed. We needed the new blood. We are not going to miss the McCullers, Hood, Jac Smith, etc. Not at all.

What was Butch's record year two at CMU? Cinci?

I've talked to some Cinci fans and they've relayed that the situations at UT/Cinci in terms of a horrible roster are similar.

Kelly apparently didn't continue to build on the roster that Dantonio left. He just focused on maximizing it and leaving. This left Jones with nothing in the cupboard so a total rebuild had to take place.

Regardless, if we go 6-6 this year but don't lose any games by 20 and our average loss is by less than 10 and we go to a bowl... I'll be thrilled.

Dooley and Kiffin left this team in the middle of an ocean with a broken rudder and no sails. This team was destroyed.

It's completely faulty logic to the point where it's more so blatant click-bait.

Does Cowherd really think UT is going to beat Bama? Probably not. Is he just riling up the gumps? Yep.

Did Butch a favor by adding some spice to this year's game.

and a hole in the bottom with no bailing bucket...

We can't play a cream puff schedule , on the other hand we shouldn't play half the top ten every year.
Fire the scheduler!

I guess they're predicting that we have a bunch of injuries. No way we lose to both Vanderbilt and this season's Missouri team at the end of the season otherwise. As far as I'm concerned, this is the bottom line:

Jones after the 2013 Kentucky game: "We’ll enjoy this one (win over Kentucky), but Monday we’re back in the weight room getting ready for next season. I want to continue to stay positive and move forward, but it’s expected that we go to bowl games from here on out. That’s our goal." (Butch Jones Sets Clear Expectations For Vols Moving Forward)

Jones said this knowing that Tiny was the only starting offensive lineman that could come back, but that he was probably entering the draft early. He wouldn't set the expectations too high. I think we'll make a bowl this year.

So Cowherd says we are going to beat Bama, and SDS says we are going to lose to Vandy. I don't think anyone has a clue how we are going to be this year.

Hey, no problem.

We're just alone in the Atlantic with no functioning rudder and with the entire Royal Navy after us.

Yep, I just compared the 2014 UT Vols to the Bismarck. This is just a continuation of a solid Dooleyism.

Until the OL and DL have played the first two games, then it's either 4-8 and 5-7 or I have UT beating Missouri and Vandy, my upset is Florida.

Go Vols!!!

We had the talent to beat Vandy LAST YEAR. The offensive play calling at the end of the game was questionable. But the defensive coverage of VU's only offensive weapon was incredibly inept which lead to the loss. A little more "game prep" and "on-field mgmt" would have resulted in a win. I think the coaching staff learned this last year and will not make the same mistakes twice.

we didn't have healthy talent to beat Vandy last year. An injured freshman QB and young receivers are not a recipe for wins. The OL seems like they were playing not to get hurt now that I think back on that game.

i consider Jordan Williams, Curt Maggitt returning starters. Jordan has a handful of starts and over 30 games played. Curt is coming back i get that but he has almost 30 games played and 17 starts in his career. You could count Marcus Jackson if you wanted to be nit picky about it bc hes started a half dozen games and played in 24 games. You could easily say we have 13-15 returning starters instead of 10.

We absolutely have the talent to beat Vandy this year - and by then a lot of the younger guys will have experience - only reason to lose that would be guys giving up. That may have been the attitude of the old team but most of the team is now Butch pics and if anything can be said of CBJ, I dont think he will inspire/allow a defeatest attitude.

I think the response from last year's team after the Georgia loss was telling. Rather than sulk and tuck their tails, they rallied and pulled off the biggest UT win in years.

In the end everyone is just predicting this and that. We will be better than most are giving us credit for. Butch doesn't settle for a mediocre team in terms of effort and mental toughness. I believe we go 6-6 and make a bowl. I wish I had that job to where I could just guess football scores and records because that's what it is ,a guess.

Another thing SDS didn't appear to consider... barring massive injuries, our team should get better over the course of the year as the freshman gain experience.

By the time we face Mizzou and Vandy our freshman will almost be battle-hardened veterans. They won't have the benefit of multiple offseasons of strength and conditioning... but they will have been in the fire against Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia and USC. Mizzou and Vandy won't be intimidating.

That's all you need to read to get an idea of the level of thought put into this hack job.

That AND Mizzou... who replaces just about all of their leaders and playmakers. Mauk when he was "the man" struggled to complete more than 50% of his passes... now he'll be working without EVERY genuine threat they had at WR last year.

I'm predicting Chattanooga beats us. So I think 2-9 is more likely. I also believe we will beat Arkansas State 6-2. All points scored on safeties.

Good God, what a lazy article.

Is that guy about 15?

I mean, there are ways to write an article predicting a 4-8 record to where it makes sense. This guy appears to have looked at last year's results, a paragraph summary of practice 3 or 4, and crapped this out.

You only get 2 points for scoring on safeties? They gave our opponents 6 points for scoring on our safeties all last season, the bunch of cheats!
