For years now I've begun to notice one thing I don't like about our 107,000 Saturday fans. There never seems to be a consistent sea of ORANGE. Tons of fans where White shirts with UT logos, some wear gray or blue with UT logos. WEAR YOUR ORANGE PEOPLE!!

Has anyone else noticed this? If there were a way to tell everyone to wear orange instead of white/gray/***hsia, how would you do it?

put it on the jumbo tron? send fliers to the dorms and get the students involved? give all the students who get tickets the "orange nation t shirts". put an add in the sentinel? put an add in the daily beacon? send mass emails to the season ticket holders and alumni in the alumni assoc.?

do like PSU did against OSU last year...the "white out". that was cool.

it really doesn't matter too much to me...i wear a Navy hat with orange T or camo hat with the VOLS in orange...and usually a white or grey t shirt with UT logos/lettering or a coache's white polo.

as long as it has orange on it and a power T, i'm good.

I am much more concerned with how the vols play than with what the fans whether they wear orange white grey or heaven forbid, black.

if there is is not serious improvement, the stands wont be full of anything

Actually, the 51 different shades of orange you see people wear is quite annoying.

But hey, as long as they win.

What happens on the field should be more of a concern than what people are wearing in the stands.

These kinds of posts make me frustrated. Can't we talk about this topic without "I just want them to win...."? I think having 77 different colors in our stadium looks weird. I think it kind of ruins our tradition.

And YOU wearing orange, gray, whatever has nothing to do with how the players play, so keep it out of discussions like these. We get it, you want them to win. So do I! But wouldn't you LOVE to see a TRUE SEA OF ORANGE in Neyland Stadium?

Am I a coach, player, staff member?

Do I need focus this week on my zone reads? Do I need to focus on fighting through a double team?

NOOOOOOOOO! These comments in threads like these are OUT OF PLACE. We as fans don't need to worry about FOCUSING on the game.

This was meant to be a fun little discussion on the lack of orange in Neyland, and you all ruin it.

what is the true shade of orange that you want to see in the stands?

My favorite is when it rains, you see more 'other' colors in the stand than orange. I guess the stock of orange ponchos is worn down by hunters? I usually see red, green, blue, etc. with people's choice of ponchos.

can can you cry about it a little more.?

a sea of orange means jack sh** to me when the results on the field leave a lot to be desired.

Relax man, take a deep breath. His opinion is that he doesn't care if everyone wears orange or not.

I would like to see a day where everyone wears all orange but I think you have to be winning first. Nothing is worse than planning something like that and then losing, aka the Kentucky basketball game.

I think it would be cool to do the checkerboard thing in Neyland, like they did in TB. Other than that, I think we have plenty of Orange in the stands. At LSU games, fans are wearing yellow, purple, white, and gray. Bama, crimson, white, and gray. UGA, red, white, black, and gray. We are nit picky as fans because we are so used to the Sea of Orange that is that all we end up focusing on is the grays, whites, etc. However, fans coming to UT games for their first time are amazed at all the orange.

My point is this:

Why the heck do people respond to posts about various things like this (colors, drills for catching passes) and say crap like "I really don't care who wears what as long as we win." Okay, you saw the thread title, read the post, and said "I don't care ..." WHY POST IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT IT?

Seriously, football fans take themselves too seriously. YES, we need to focus on the game when we're there. However, saying things like that 5 days beforehand is reallllly silly. Look at other college stadiums. The fans are unified. They pick a friggin color and the entire home sections look like they belong together. Not some cluster---- of white, blue, gray, and whatever other colors.

This thread was started with no friction, no anger, nothing. Now, I get people who don't care as long as we win. That's silly! We as fans have 2 jobs when it comes to being fans: Get loud and show spirit. I don't think a mass of various color shows much spirit.

Yeah, I realize that sounds childish. But do you understand how ridiculous it sounds for a fan to say "I don't care what color the fans wear, I just want us to win"? Tennessee is synonymous (sp?) with orange. When people tune in, it'd be freaking cool to see our main color plastered everywhere in the stadium.

No, the original topic isn't a big deal. It's not. It's something I would LIKE to see, and I made it a lighthearted post. Yet we get ridiculous comments that have no place.

So ... did I make my point?

Not really. I don't think anyone's comments here are any more out of line then you complaining about someone spelling Erik wrong.

If the thread is here people are gonna post. They aren't just going to post only if they agree.

I agree about people wearing orange (or white). I just think some people don't care what color the fans wear. They would argue that the fans wearing a certain color is "neat" and all but it has no bearing on the outcome of the game.
