Sean McDonough’s calls in that 1998 season will always have a special place in my memory/heart.

Also when was the last time he called a game that we lost? I am sure he has called some of our games the past few decades but all I can remember recently was the 2022 Pitt game

McDonough is definitely my favorite. Very fair and professional. Gets excited for both teams, great delivery. Dave Neal always called the "lesser" games and was always very fair. Don't know if I've heard him call a game this year though for anyone. Maybe he's doing something else?

Yeah, I’m glad we won’t have to listen to Joe “every big play is a potential sound bite” Tessitore.

You nailed it. I've never heard two PBP broadcasters who so obviously make every call with SportsCenter in mind like Tessitore and Lundquist, who did the same thing every year at the Masters. Tessitore does games as if he believes his every utterance is profound.

You missed the most iconic part where Billy Ratliff pushed the Arkie OT into QB Stoerner which caused him to fumble.
It was the guard, Brandon Burlsworth, that got tangled up with Stoerner. For those who don't know the story, Burlsworth went from walk-on to All American at Arkansas, and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 1999. A few days after being drafted, he was killed in a car accident.

I’ve always been amused at our fans that think Ratliff bull rushed Burslworth into Stoerner. Stoerner tripped over Burlsworth’s foot before Ratliff made contact. It was just a fortunate mistake by Burlsworth to step back that far into pass protection.

Ok Guard. I know the whole story, and I watched the game live. Ratliff pushed him back into Stoerner. My point was the vid posted didn't rewind back to the "Stumble & Fumble" call.

Ask Billy Ratliff how it went. He said "Bullsworth had kicked my butt all day, but I got the best of him on that play" (paraphrased). Regardless of how you see it, Ratliff was the catalyst .

I could tolerate Verne. He did love him some Tebow, but Danielson is on another level of annoyance. He is knowledgable but like many others I still muted the tv 😂

I don't judge announcers on bias, because everyone has at least some, or they're lying. Lundquist was a self absorbed blowhard who felt a need to inject himself into every event.

Moving from him to the great Brad Nessler was the best thing to happen to those broadcasts. It even made Danielson more palatable.

That's absolutely what happened. You can see here Ratliff is engaged and pushing back just as Stoerner trips over hit foot. If he is not pushed back then there is no trip

Sentimental connection to Dave Neal; and all the Daves from Jefferson Pilot SEC football games. They were quality broadcasters back when seeing your team on TV was not automatic.

I tried to watch a Masters golf tournament or two with Lundquist commentating and dozed off.
