Anyone interested in the rising cost of ticket prices......

Home

AP, West KY, South AL - $45.00 per ticket
Georgia, USC and Vandy - $55.00 per ticket
Auburn - $70 per ticket

Away (This is when my knees buckled)

Oregon - $99.00 per ticket
Florida - $80.00 per ticket
Bama and MO - $75.00 per ticket
KY - $60.00 per ticket

Knowing that the NFL average ticket price last year was $76.00, I'm not even sure what to say. 2 years ago when Bama went to $60 I was in shock.

I have had 4 season tix for a number of years now. I will continue to pay and attend, but will no longer complain about the empty seats. This is insane.

I know the UT/ UF tickets were about $75 each in 2011. That may have included a $5.00 fee but I remember paying $300 for 4.

I had looked up Oregon's prices from last year and marquis games were $90 or more so it's not surprising.

Charging $70 for Auburn is a joke.

"How is the Auburn game more than UGA and USC? I don't understand that."

Because thats the last big game of our undefeated season... Till the SEC championship :D

Bilking the fans and using hype and old media. Passed on buying this year after having only gone to 3 last season despite buying season tickets. My decision really has nothing to do with whether Butch is the guy or not. It has to do with sitting in a cramped, no back seat with blaring loud speakers and a mediocre view of the field. Although I will add the UTAD insisting that Dools was a real HC contributed to my attitude of not going.

They need to get a clue. Increase the comfort and the experience of game day for 80,000 fans by increasing the space for seats with backs and they will be able to charge even higher prices along with higher donations. All pro sports teams have figured this one out a long time ago. They reduced their seating capacity and upgraded the experence. Or they can keep doing what they are doing and the easy chair with HDTV will continue to become more attractive. UT thinks that the fanbase will continue to fork it out without having to do anything of substance to the seating. They will give you a few more restrooms and food choices - those are easy and getting people to buy more food makes them more money.

There's a lot of truth in this post. I agree the "seating" experience at UT leaves something to be desired. If you're over 6 ft. tall your knees are in the back of the person in front of you.

Vols4us,

You have a point....For 4 tickets after my donation, it costs me $4K a year. I could buy one helluva HDTV and replace it every year for that!

Unless I find a heck of a deal, I'm gonna buy a triple play deal type, or buy em online for less. The only game I think face value will happen on is Georgia. Past that point it's a buyers market.

A few yrs ago schools started charging more for single game tkts to their big games. That way visiting fans pay more for an away game instead of raising tkt prices for season tkts. Tn does that with AL & FL. $55 seems cheap for SC & GA, especially since AU is $70. I'm sure Oregon charges a lot because their stadium is so small...if they were in the SEC, they'd have either the 12th or 13th largest stadium in the conference! On most road trips, the cost of the tkt is a lot less than gas or motel!

You sound old & bitter. Bless your heart.

Isn't Oregon's stadium much smaller than Neyland? That's probably why their games cost more. The supply of tickets is smaller.

My renewal form (and online) said that the UGA and SC games were only available through season ticket purchase, and that additional ticket purchases on the renewal form weren't possible.

Renewal form hates us.

Auburn charges a separate management fee that has to be paid in cash using small bills (20s and 50s)...

:lolabove::lolabove::lolabove::lolabove:

Auburn gets it

They're about to get it.

You forgot the demand side. If you have a stadium that seat 60K and 80K want to go, you can demand a higher price...and get it.

If you have a stadium that seats 100K and "only" 80K want to go you have surplus.

As long as we can afford to go, we're going. I don't go to be comfortable in the seat, or to have food choices. I go because I love being inside that stadium when the band plays Rocky Top, when the players take the field, and when I see the Vols playing football. We give up other entertainment things so we can go, cause it's what we love. And one of these days, I won't be able to.
