Seastrunk or Mack Brown, which is better for UT?

guys, forget about reeling in a top notch RB. Look at our backfield, we are stacked. We need to worry about the OL most of all right now.

Seastrunk is more talented and probably a better RB, but Brown is better for UT for a number of reasons.

I don't think RB and OL are mutually exclusive. We have already gotten commitments from a top notch guard- Fulton and two tackles- James and Pair. We have to be in the lead for Chaz Green and possibly lead for John Cullen. We also have Damien Robinson and Torrian Wilson, two more guard prospects, interested. I don't think we take more than 5 line prospects. Toney Williams is coming back from knee surgery and Brown has had injuries. We would be foolish to turn down Seastrunk in favor of a 6th lineman. We need a gamebreaker. I think Kiffin takes Seastrunk, Brown, or possibly Finch. If they are not available, he may pass and "recruit" Poole (think he already has been) to stay.

If you can get an elite RB every year, you do it, regardless of your depth chart. RB is one of the most injury-prone positions in football.

We need one premier back this class.

Just one.

Your always an injury or two from having serious depth problems.

Lache if we can get him, but it seems to me that Brown will be easier to land.

True, im just saying right now in this class the OL position is important. The RB's need holes to run through. I would most definitely take any elite RB at any time though, the more the merrier.

But is Brown just a clone of Oku? Seastrunk is the breakaway threat we thought BB would be.

Seastrunk, Bryce Brown, and Oku could just not be at the same school. Seastrunk is a very unique person. He's not neccesarilly a primadonna but wherever he ends up he would have to be THE guy and he's a VERY emotional guy to the point where he almost can't contain himself sometimes.

If he went to Tennessee, I just don't think it would turn out well. Personally, I think he would probably end up transferring after his freshman year to be honest. This is not a knock on Lache at all.

As for Mack Brown, he goes to one of the best HS football programs in the state of Georgia, he's a competitor. He has played through injuries and I just think he would be a better fit personality wise with Bryce and Oku.

Very solid points. I expect Kiffin to go after Brown hard....

Oku will be a break away threat. He showed sparks already. I don't know that he'll ever be more than a situational back though. I like Poole alot and Williams as well... but neither should scare a top shelf RB away.

When I complain that BB didn't show cutting ability... others assured me that his injury kept him from really showing his stuff. Maybe he'll show breakaway speed too.

BB has breakaway speed. He's not been training right.

Trust me when I say he's about to change things up.

He will be the man next year.

He will be faster.

He will breakaway. He'll cut down on his fat and add more muscle/explosiveness.

Taking one RB isn't going to harm our ability to sign the OL we need in this class.

Isn't Mack Brown #1 RB on our board? I thought I saw that a while back....

IMO Seastrunk is a Darren Sproles type back but Mack Brown looks like he could grow into an every down type back which makes him more appealing for our zone blocking system.

BB doesn't look fat to me at all. He's getting Rocked up. I can see a big difference between where he's at now from when we first recruited him. I think he wants to follow in the Jamal Lewis mold...a powerback with 4.4 speed. Our S&C coach knows how he needs to train...what he needs to focus on, so it's not like he's off getting fat like Lendale White or something.

As for Seastrunk or Brown...I honestly think CLK has to be the one to ask himself if either guy is a real upgrade from Poole, cause I think Poole leaves if we bring in another guy this class...and I personally get tired of hearing the coaches talk about how he consistently shows up and the big runs he breaks off in Spring and Fall practices...yet when it comes game time, they sit him on the bench. WTF, Over?!

I could give a damn about either. I'll take an OL over either any day of the week.

Who says we have to choose one or the other? There will be plenty of spots for both OL and an RB.

If either of these guys say they want to be a Vol, they won't be turned down.
