Big East- 7 teams in top 25.
SEC- 6 teams
Big Ten-5
ACC-4
A-10-1
B12-1
P10-1
Found it interesting the SEC was ahead of the B10 and ACC in this category. We do have KY back to prominence, and Fl has 2 rings this decade. Are we playing in the 2nd best BB conference in the land?

Yeah, measuring recruiting classes almost two months before Signing Day is the best way to rank conferences. Don't worry about Final Four appearances and meaningless crap like that.

I know the kush is stinky, but did you really sniff me out like that? ShEesh. Its obviously not the only factor, but its an important one.

How is a snapshot of recruiting two months before Signing Day important to anything?

I'm just glad Fox has got us back in the mix in the SEC. I fully expect Georgia to be in the top 25 this year

the SEC is weak. in the past decade (as compared to historically) we've underachieved due to recruiting, florida overachieved then realized their coach sucks, ya'll overachieved due to recruiting and the rest have been a wash. yah, msu and vandy have been strong in conference, sc showed flashes of brilliance and the list goes on and on, but overall it's been a horrid decade for the SEC. like the other poster said, it's too early to tell the future right now, but i think we should let this season get going and judge it before we even consider ourselves any higher than the back end of the top 5 as a whole. we stay strong, ya'll stay strong, florida gets off their sorry butts and starts doing something, and some of the others pick up the slack and we can talk, but until then, we're looked at as a football conference with a few schools that can play bball.

That is dead on accurate.

WNCK is never dead on accurate... I demand to know who she is plagiarizing at once!

In all seriousness though, good post. One other thing to consider in all this is that until the SEC West wakes up and stops putting FCS calibur teams on the court the SEC will never get the respect it deserves. Honestly, to put this in perspective, where would you set the over/under for teams from the west winning games against teams from the east this season? I would have to go with 3. Where would you set it?

Go Vols!!!

The SEC is on the rise.

Georgia returns most of their studs
We have got some great freshman talent
Kentucky will be good, not like last year though, very beatable this year
vandy has taylor, tinsley, walker, jenkins returning plus solid freshman
south carolina will be down
Florida returns all the main contributers from last year and brought in good talent

the west will be down as usual

We don't have a lot of friends at ESPN. We have 2 top 100 players and a few schools ranked ahead of us only have 1 and only 2 commits. Not sure what the logic is putting us behind a few of these schools, especially when 1 of our top 100 players is ranked ahead of theirs. Tennessee has a top 15 class right now.

A lot can change between now and signing day

Spot on. We really won't know until the ink is dried in Feb. Rivals has Mich. St. ranked #6 with 4 commits but only two ranked. Things will change for sure. Baylor has zero commits with 2-4 'ships to give (depending on what the NBA does) yet they are in on 6 of the top 50 and 11 of the top 100 Rivals players. Way too much talent still out there that is undecided.

All time National Titles, with Duke's upset this year, the ACC has 12. The PAC 10 has 15. The BIG TEN has 10. The poor SEC has 10.

Since 1996, the SEC has 5 and the ACC has 5. What????

The NCAA tournament record of the ACC of all schools not named Duke and UNC is absolutely horrific. The past several years they have not had a team not named those two get past the first game or first weekend in spite of the gift of high seeds. Two years ago the ACC did not have a win vs a non conference ranked school yet get 6 in and they all lost in game 1 basically.

This year things start to correct themselves as the SEC will get in 6 and the ACC gets in 4. And 4 is to much.

Basketball recruits sign in November and April.
