That'll probably generate another kazillion dollars or so yet...it's still not enough to give the kids that put their asses on the line a little. They should just buck up and give these kids an allowance. Greedy Bastards

I saw the 15 mil for third party rights, but I was curious what the total amount ESPN was going to pay. Iiirc, it was in billions for old contract.

The problem with giving kids more money is that this so called surplus you think exists is only for a few teams. Tennessee athletics is already in the red. Even if they weren't, the only schools getting additional money for this is the SEC schools. What about the other schools that already struggle to make ends meet? The revenue they get from football supports all their other sports.
When people argue about paying players, they rarely take into account that every school could not provide the same to it's players and thus the recruiting advantages would become a point of contention. IMO these kids need to make the most of their education and that will take them further than a little extra cash while in school.

Which is why u limit the allowance to a reasonable amount. Maybe 2k/mo for underclass man and 2.5k/mo for upperclassman.

wish they would say what cable companies will carry it --- I am hoping Dishnet or Direct Tv so I can dump Comcast.

Defer the money and give it to them when they graduate -- a little more of an incentive to getting the degree they came for.

It should rise for every year they stay. And give them a graduation bonus if they do it on time (5 yrs). Also if EA losses suit they may be getting paid something.

Given a choice between Charlotte and Birmingham, I believe any educated, disease free person with any morals at all would choose Charlotte.

I have to believe there are some long-term goals to move the network to an SEC-freindly city in near future unless SEC can expand into North Carolina.

There was talk at one point of Knoxville being a host to the unit with it's substantial and growing nation television presence. Don't be surprise if ESPN makes a deal with Scripps for that in future.

I'm just hoping for a channel that everyone can be able to get to without complaints. And I hope that there's no extra $$$ charge on the cable line-up to get it. If it's like the NFL channel where you have to pay extra $$$ to watch then I say piss on this.

With the amount of money they will generate from advertising revenue, I don't see this being an issue.
