I asked in another post who or what will be the keystone in the avalanche. I think this is it. It may take a lot of money, time and lawyers but I don't think the execs of the two most powerful conferences and the reps from their member institutions are going to have high level meetings and not eventually come to the conclusion that they don't need the NCAA. My guess is Sankey and others have already come to that conclusion and they're merely going through the process needed to formalize and execute a plan.

Bama and UGA, the biggest cheaters in Football, will never, ever back us up and will never ever be sanctioned by the conference or the NCAA.
Bama yes. Georgia? I mean sure their fans are annoying barking butt sniffers but Auburn would like a word before you put them up there with Bama for the cheating title.

Two conferences just formed an advisory board to see how to make sure the future of college football goes in the best direction.

Think this is the beginning of a AFC/NFC style in college football.

Could see the two conferences pulling away completely to form its own league.

Thoughts?

The present form of governance for college athletics doesn’t work because it violates the Sherman Act and common sense.
At best, the NCAA and the disciplinary decisions it imposed on member schools was arbitrary, inconsistent and unfair in most instances. To complicate matters, the disciplinary actions punished student athletes who weren’t involved in the infractions.
If you were good enough, players have been getting paid for decades In a variety of ways.
My brother played for LSU during the Billy Cannon area, he witnessed Billy regularly getting an envelope stuff with cash.
Fans need to face college athletics is a business and these players are going to start receiving part of the revenue stream and at present there isn’t a structure to accommodate this.
I think legislation, at the Federal level, will be part of this solution. Just my opinion.

Or, at least a new improved version of NCAA is coming.

IMO, they should invite the ACC and either the Big 12 or Pac (whatever's left) to form 4 super conferences aligned regionally. They could agree to revenue sharing and governance of player compensation.
