I would think this game HAS to be played at the Sugar Bowl. Great atmosphere, located directly between these two conferences. I think this is a great idea. i think this could set the stage for expansion for the Big 12. We'll see.

Not long ago many people were writing off the Big 12 for dead. Now the SEC is signing a deal with it?

Weird times.

Sounds cool but I have a feeling this helps Big12 more in that will help them survive. Also would be nice first time A&M or Missouri got to play against the old regime. Now the way I see it it could much the way Arkansas played Ohio St. As 2nd team from SEC because conference champ was in BCS title game.

I think we may have our four team playoff.

Pac XX vs. B1G, SEC vs. Big XII. Winners advance to title game.

Seems like the ACC would be a better matchup. Each conference championship game winner against each other.

For the foreseeable future this game will not be a true Big XII champion vs. SEC champion. The champions from each conference will go to the 4 team playoff. This game takes the would-be sugar bowl SEC team, so now the sugar bowl will get the 3rd best SEC team? I don't really see the point, oh, except for the $$$$.

In very few scenarios would the champion of the SEC not be included in the future 4 team playoff. Honestly, if you take the top 4 teams in the country, the top 2 SEC teams could possibly already be gone. That said; I highly doubt the TRUE champion of the SEC will ever play in this game. (Unless they incorporate this game into the 4 team playoff)

Not to mention the 4th best at the Capital One, 5th and 6th best at the Outback and Cotton, etc...

I can only assume the Music City Bowl shat a brick when they saw this. There may not even be an SEC team available by their pick. This is the downside to a playoff; it devalues the bowl system. I don't really care though, I'd rather see a true (er) champion.

This bowl announcement is almost mocking the other conferences. "If we don't make it to theÂ…hahaha, come on, we're gonna make it."

WRNL ‏@WideRtNattyLt
Bowlsby starts his tenure with a ridiculous Big12-SEC agreement that trolls the Rose Bowl. I like this guy already.

Combine the ACC with SEX/BigXII, Big East with B1G, and Mountain West/Notre Dame with Pac-10, and you got your 64 team/16 team playoff, NFL minor league system.

So, which Bowl Committee will stuff a ton of cash into their personal pockets at the expense of the schools who earn the privilege of playing in this new game?

It only devalues the bowl games that never should be played in the first place..Nashville,Birmingham,Memphis

Maybe they will simply alternate between the Sugar and Fiesta, and the other bowl won't get either champion.

It's pointless though, other than to guarantee that an SEC team plays a Big 12 team in a major corporate game on NYD, because the odds of the SEC Champion and Big 12 Champion missing the 4-team playoff in the same season are probably close to zero.

Yes. That's why it doesn't bother me. I personally hate it for Nashville, but it won't keep me up at night.

This is the day the ACC died. When the conference is gutted, everyone will point to this announcement and say "that's when it happened."

The Big East has been gutted. The Mountain West has been gutted. Hell, the WAC has been gutted. The ACC is not gutted.

It's going to be. This move is going to tie up so much money between the Big 10, Pac 12, Big XII, and SEC, that the ACC is finished as a significant football conference. If FSU wasn't considering the Big XII before, they have to now. And if they go, they're taking Clemson or Miami with them. Lose any 2 of those 3, and the rest will be jumping like rats from a sinking ship.

The money is going to be so disproportionate, that if you are in the ACC and you get an offer from one of the power players, you absolutely have to take it. The ACC is only going to last as long as the other conferences are willing to let it.
