Mark Byington. It's crazy that he could make Vanderbilt immediately competitive, let alone THIS good. I can't think of a turnaround this impressive, ever.

Ditto on the Oats part. He basically covered up an accessory to Murder. His counterparts are little league...
Oats did not "cover up" anything. He did have what I thought was a very flippant and unserious response to a player who was involved in a very serious legal situation, which is still bad, but he didn't cover up a crime. Come on now.

Unserious? Is that a word? Anyways, your opinion. Oats allowed the player to play after the murder. The Player took the gun to the Murderer. And someone from UA got the TPD to lay off a star player. I remember it very well, and it stunk to Denmark.

Yes it is.

Everything you just said amounts to a bad reaction to an event on the part of Oats, not a "cover-up." Was he at the crime scene destroying evidence or something?

Why wouldn’t he allow him to play?
Once everything was settled with him regarding the case, there was no reason to disallow him playing.

However, I was surprised they let him play while the incident (and his role/potential role in it) was still being investigated. If memory serves there was at least one game he played in where it was very much a possibility he might be charged with something. They didn't have to suspend him of course, but I was just a little surprised they didn't. It was a pretty bad look.

Yes, but none of that is a coberup. It's corruption and immoral leadership, just not a cover up.
