Fulmer and staff have won some big games on the way to a possible 9-2 regular season with 2 freshman QBs and a 3rd string qb, 2 freshman CBs and lots of injuries before a d during the season

Mike Shula has brought respect back to bammer showing better than predicted success with limited resources.

Tubberville, the addition of 2 key coordinators has brought the Tigers to the top of the national scene. Solid play in all areas of the game.

As much as I hate it I would probably have to say Tubberville....assuming he doesn't lose to Bama.

Got to agree with the Freak. We've all been waiting for the Tubs letdown and it hasn't come. AUB really screwed him with the Petrino thing last year and Tubs has gotten revenge the right way. If he wins a NC can you say "renegotiation" :p

Finally, one of the things that makes AUB so good this year is balance - that team is a TEAM. They play as a unit and that's typically a sign of coaching.

This is an easy choice . . . After starting last year 0-2 and coming close to losing his job, Tuberville has done no wrong this year.

I hate to say it, but I would pick CPF last out of those three. Sure, he makes good halftime adjustments, but what about adjustments to the week prior to the game? Every game we go in, even against teams like Ole Miss, and look dazed, confused and like we're about to get a big upset. Pulling them out at the end may make for something intense to watch, but it's not the way to run things. Our boys need to play a 60 minute game. If we don't, I wouldn't even begin to consider a win over Auburn in the SECCG.

So anyways... Tuberville for pulling Auburn around like he did, then Shula for making Alabama actually look decent with a terrible passing offense, then CPF.

would your vote be different if we had beaten ND? just wondering I think all 3 have done a good job this year but I went withCPF for going against the grain with 2 freshmen and coaching toward developing a future team, unfortunately injuries put a hamper on that

Oh, no doubt he is a great coach, 80%+ winning record and all that good stuff, but our Vols have not been consistently playing 60 minute games. Sure, we pulled it all out against Georgia, and there were some other exceptions, but for the most part, we slack off in the beginning, realize what the hell is happening then pull it out in the nick of time. Like I said, entertaining to watch but that is NOT good coaching.

I think these coach of the year polls/awards all have to do with expectations. Bottom line is that all three teams have exceeded expectations to this point. Who would have thought Tennessee would have been undefeated in the SEC East for the first time since 98 and playing for an SECC.

You can say the same about Auburn and Bama.

Do you all think Bama's defense is as good as advertised?

Yes, it does have to do with expectations. That's the standard coaches are held to, and whether or not they do better then, as well as, or worse than their expectations is how they are judged. From what I understood of Alabama, they should have been pretty terrible. Statistically, they are middle of the pack but I think they are a big upset force in the SEC.

If you look at Bama's wins and losses the really didn't win any games that they weren't supposed to with the possible exception of S.Miss. I think 6-5 was about what was expected of them with their schedule.

I'm still somewhat green to the SEC, so maybe that' just my expectation from what I heard. Either way, Tuberville gets my vote.

Tubby has been blessed this yr with a group of seasoned veterans and few injuries ...pretty easy team to "coach".... don't get me wrong AU is an awesome team but expectations were too high last year for them and not high enough this year... if your vote is based on exceeding expectations CPF has to be the one IMO

Freak, I think Bama's defense is very good but think the #1 rating was questionable due to their schedule. I posted here earlier this week an inside the #'s look at their opponents. In short, the best team they beat in terms of total offense was Ole Miss (ranked 71st). They played 3 teams with total offenses ranked in the 100's (Utah St., UK and S. Miss or MSU). Western Carolina of course doesn't count. We rank 55th.

On the other hand, I think Bama has played hard every game. I think Shula has done a good job of motivation.

As for expectations, at the beginning of the season, they were favored all their games leading up to the UT game. They lost their QB and that has had a real impact.

Wins have come over teams they should have beaten - Utah St., Western Carolina, Ole Miss, MSU, S. Miss (who didn't have their QB for the game) and UK. None against teams that they were underdogs against.

My view on Shula is that he has done a good job on the motivation front but hasn't really shown an ability to make in game adjustments when things aren't going well.

Injuries have been tough for Bama this year. I didn't really think about that.

I wonder how Auburn would have done it they lost Campbell and Williams?

Sure you can blame the injuries for Bama mediocre season, but arent coaches suppose to be able to compensate for that? I mean, most BAMA folk I have read in these forums arent even convinced he is the right man for the job. NO to Shula

Tupperville is just stepping back and letting his players play. Noting brilliant about his coaching.

I went with Fulmer. Take what is supposed to be a rebuilding year and lead them into Atlanta...remarkable.

Tubberville is not a great coach in my eyes,he has a very experienced veteran
team that has stayed healthy. This is the same guy that almost ended up done
before the end of the season last year like Zook this year.Im not saying it should be a lock for Fulmer either, but we have done well with so much youth.Look at Coker at Miami he stepped into a great Program with unreal talent but he seems to be slipping more every year.Im just saying Tubbs in a good situation now but it will
not last very long.

You have to say Tubberville!!! You know good and well if UT would be 11-0 you would be saying "Fulmer for President"!!!!!!!! If we loose to the Barners, I hope they go all the way. I totally respect Auburn. They deserve it!!!!!!!! B)

with all the injuries and starting 2 freshmen QBs and now an inexperienced 3rd stinger why not Fulmer for pres because of that?

I voted for Two-Tone Tommy Tubberville simply because his team is undefeated and the pinkslip was already made out in his name at the end of last season.

Fulmer deserves consideration for sure, but you have to figure that any Tennessee team any year can end up being a threat to win the East and possibly the SEC overall. If we win the SECCG then I'd probably say it should be Fulmer.
