SEC coach of the year?

Smart lost 28 players a year ago and won an undefeated SEC title with only 9 scholarship seniors. The job he did this year to maintain excellence was superb by every measure understood by people in the profession.

I'd be willing to bet coaches care more about what other coaches think.
that cupcake schedule helped alot too

I'd say better coaching in 2017 and 18. Two breakdowns on defense, one in the national championship and another in the SECC the following year, allowed Bama to win two games for which they had the lead for like 31 seconds combined. Otherwise, Kirby would be 3-2 with a 2017 natty, a 2018 SEC title, and a 2018 playoff appearance to play for another natty...but my aunt doesnt have nuts and that's not what happened.

So in 2017 Tua, the backup comes in throws 3 TDs, Bama misses the winning FG in regulation but wins it in OT with a 41 yarder to a future Heisman winner, Devonta Smith but see only one breakdown.

And in 2018 Hurts, the backup comes in has 1 passing TD and 1 rushing TD in the 4th and again you see only breakdown.

Believe I see your problem and it's one I can't fix.

This is the dumbest assertion.

SOS in order:
1. Alabama
2. Tennessee
3. Texas
4. LSU
5. Georgia
The other 126 teams.

IF either Tennessee or LSU had beaten Georgia, then Georgia would have a higher SOS. See how that works? Probably not.

You both benefit in SOS from having a 13-0 team on your resume.

You cannot compare Kirbys situation to what Heupel inherited. What an absolute joke.

This program was in the abyss when he got here and has elevated the roster he was dealt with immediately.

Would Kirby have the same record with Tn's roster?

Oh boohoo Smart was forced to replace elite talent with more elite talent. And the scholarship seniors stat is laughable. Georgia is so good their players are usually going pro after three years. No doubt Kirby is a tremendous coach and an unrivaled recruiter right now. I’m not saying smart isn’t deserving of the award but he’s basically built a factory for nfl talent at this point.

I think if Heupel and Tennessee win the Carolina game this is a slam dunk. Kirby being undefeated kind of makes it hard to vote against him imo.
When you have the talent that Ga currently has you win ugly games when the coaches don't have their team ready to play. (See early 2000's Tn) When you have Tn's talent and you don't have them ready South Carolina happens. JMO.

If it was all about stars in the recruiting game then A&M would have won more than 4 games. You guys keep thinking what your thinking about Heupel. I'm actuakly happy for UT's fans and the program's limited success this season. Especially the limited part.

Keep beating the Gators and Bama. A strong UT isn't any more of a fear than a strong Alabama, Auburn, Florida, etc. Somebody else has to be good. Might as well be UT as anyone else. Sometimes the best team you play all season is in the regular season.
Good luck beating us twice or 3 times in the same year.

I don't even want to know from what dark place you pulled your SOS numbers. Clearly you don't have a clue.

He lost 28 players and replaced with 28 5 stars. What Huepel did was more impressive winning 10 games without a defense.

Exactly. Margin of error when it comes to coaching is wider with more talent. Most of the coaching is done on the recruiting trail.

Damn right Gross Stalker, we will keep thinking what we are thinking about Heupel on our own site,
now you go keep thinking what your thinking about Smart on your own site.

And the comment about limited success just shows your jackass personality.

Hey. Well excuuuuuse me. I was just trying to help. The guy asked a question about the head coach of the defending National Champion Georgia Bulldogs. Obviously at least one person cares. 😁
The thing is, Smart met expectations with 85% of his roster being 4 and 5 star recruits. Tip your hat if you must. I can envision what CJH would do with the same advantage and I’ll be holding my breath when that day comes waiting for posters from other boards to come on and acknowledge what an awesome job he’s done.

Georgia has 15 - 5 Stars on its roster with a talent composition ranking of #2. Preseason in the top 3!
Tennessee has 2- 5 Stars on its roster with a talent composition ranking of #19 Preseason not in the top 25! Finished 6

Don’t cry a river about how Smart had to overcome a lack of depth and talent.

The only ones around here that care anything about GA are leg humping, sack licking, butt sniffing, feces eating, rubbing their asses on the carpet types…. No Vols give a damn

Kirby Smartt did a great job but Georgia had a very favorable schedule as well.

They started the season with an Oregon team breaking in a new QB and with a new coach in Georgia. Their only true competition in the SEC East had to go to Athens.

They didn't have any meaningful road games. They caught South Carolina before they got good on the road so it wasn't much of a game. The closest meaningful game was @ Miss State.

The stars align for Georgia with their schedule.
Their schedule is pretty garbage next year, too.
