So essentially we're adding two 0.500 Big 12 teams.

Now the conference has to shell out $50 million more per year, and (in the near-term) there's no guarantee it will receive that much in additional TV revenue.

Well done.

No offense but I'd have to think with all of the information in front of them, they know more about what they are doing than you do.

The increases aren't going away. It will be the best product out there for the forseeable future....now I do agree that these may not have been my first choices. Better than some...not as good as some others.

Mizzou probably wraps at 8-5 this year with the #1 toughest schedule in the nation. Kill off a couple missed FGs, it could be 10-3.

Oh, and the SEC just grabbed the two largest B12 states in terms of population and TVs.

Mizzou probably wraps at 8-4 this year with the #1 toughest schedule in the nation. Kill off a couple missed FGs, it could be 10-2.

Tennessee and Mississippi State would trade you in a heartbeat if you really believe that.

College Football Power Ratings - College FB Team Strength of Schedule Power Rating

So far, Mizzou actually has had a harder schedule. I don't know how much playing KU will affect it, but as of now Mizzou is 4th in SOS. UT is 25th and Miss St is 14th. I'm going to be a big SEC advocate myself next year, but you got to remember that things aren't always better in the SEC. I feel like often the "SEC Label" is overrated and those within the SEC have a superiority complex. Hopefully you understand what I'm trying to get at. In no way was I trying to bash the SEC.

I've never heard of team rankings.com I prefer things that have been around. say

USATODAY.com

If you look, you can see. TN has played more ranked teams (and higher ranked teams) than missouri. I think that's an easy argument.

SEC is the premier conference in the country. Anybody who says otherwise is just ignorant.

Your link just proved the point...Mizzou has the 2nd toughest schedule in the nation through last week's games. And how has UT played more ranked teams than Mizzou? Your link has UT playing 3 v Top 10, 6 v Top 30. Mizzou's played 4 v Top 10, 7 v Top 30.

Do I consider Mizzou to be the 11th best team in the nation? No. They will be a Top 20 team if they win v kU and the bowl game. The computers LOVE them and the rest of the current B12.

That's because, for some reason, the BCS computers think the Big XII this year is the hottest ish since sliced bread. Better than usual, yes. Second best conference in the nation, sure. Leaps and bounds better than the SEC, yeeeeaaaah no.

Anyways, mediocre and A&M and Mizzou have been and will continue to be, they also bring a lot of additional eyes with them. The only other program out there I can think that would have been the case for is VA Tech or one of the NC schools, but it would have been difficult to pull them from the ACC.

Plus, every B12 team got a bump up in SOS due to the round-robin scheduling. Every team got Oklahoma State, OU, K-State, ATM, etc.

I got a big laugh when Nebraska and Colorado both bailed for '11 and the pundits came out to say all 10 teams would probably make the 2012 NCAA Tourney because of the lack of conference cupcakes. Absolute truth.

Yeah the computers add points to accomadate for the round robin schedule smaller leagues with less than 12 teams have...I think some of it though is to also compensate for the fact they don't play an extra game (conf championship) like some of the others do

Did a Mizzou fan just claim that the BigXII is the toughest football conference in the nation?

If that is the case (which this fan asserted, not I), then why is Mizzou running away from it?

Could be 13-0, 0-13, 6-7, etc.; are not.

Also, where is this #1 SOS figure coming from?

According to this week's BCS standings:
UT has played the #1, #2, #3, #12, #13.(LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina) Missouri has played #4, #9, #11, #18, #25. (Ok St, Oklahoma, Kansas St, Baylor, Texas) The average ranking of the 5 BCS teams each has played is 6.2 for UT and 13.4 for Missouri. Both tough schedules, but I think its pretty clear which one is tougher.

Have you played the number 1, 2, and 3 team in the nation? Also 2 more top 15 teams in UGA and USCjr? No. Tennessee's is way more difficult, deal with it. And deal with Mizzou being 5th or 6th in the East every single year.

Yeah. It's stupid, but it is what it is.

Computer rankings are only as objective as the individuals who program the formulas; therefore, they are subjective.

I would balk at anyone who claimed that from their observations they thought that the BigXII was a tougher football conference than the SEC this season.
