Don't mean to steal the thread but I don't have enough posts to start a new one. Since we're talking about freshmen, I'm curious about neiko creamer. Recruited as a wr and looked like a stud receiver but has since been reassigned to linebacker. thoughts???

Okay.... What's stupid about making an observation that Hurd doen't look 4.37 and that speed is not the only quality that a good back has to have. The only contradiction is in your own mind because you read into it that I didn't think Hurd would be a good back. It must of been my username that made you come to that conclusion.

I believe Hurd will be a good back but it's hard to tell right now with a young line in front of him.

It all goes together.... :)

Tennessee running back Jalen Hurd was named SEC Freshman of the Week for Week 2 of the 2014 season. Hurd rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown on 23 attempts during the Vols’ 34-19 win over Arkansas State Saturday.

The five-star athlete from Hendersonville, Tenn,, became the first Tennessee tailback to win the award since Arian Foster in 2005. Butch Jones acknowledged the progress made by the first-year running back during his weekly press conference earlier today.

Darrell Williams was the most impressive RB for LSU last week, although his numbers are not as good. I would not be surprised by Williams moving ahead of Fournette if he continues to run hard like that.

You just made my point. How can you judge speed when an offensive line cannot open up a hole large enough and long enough for the dude to run through it a full speed.

From what I have heard....a couple of posters here have "govols" in their username...and they constantly get trolled for posting uneducated posts. I can only assume that applies when "go" is placed in front of "gator" as well.

Let me get this right.... The line has stopped Hurd from hitting the hole at full speed or running full speed??? Last time I checked, he wasn't carrying the linemen on his back.... :p

Silly gator.....did you actually have to check film footage to see if Hurd was carrying an o-lineman on his back. That would be a first for me too.

This!!! I think we've yet to utilize our running game effectively. I know it will be a struggle with our sub-par o-line but stretching out the D late in the third and 4th Lane can/will have a huge impact. He's probably our first back in several years that has the potential to carry the ball 20+ times a game and just get better as the game progresses and hopefully as well as the season.
