SEC HC Most Likely To Bolt For NFL

Les Miles. Believe he worked for Jerry Jones at one time, but could be wrong on that.

Miles doesn't strike me as an NFL coach, and he doesn't strike me as having an interest in leaving the college game. Franklin seems like he'll spend his time hopping to and from college jobs all his life.

Saban is the only one that would bolt, IMO.

Saban has already done the NFL and found it too challenging. He likes to dominate in recruiting taking darn near any player he wants. You don't get to do that in the NFL.

Same goes for Spurrier combined with the fact that he is getting close to retirement.

Not sure Les is viewed as NFL caliber or simply a recruiter who out horses most of his opponents and gets lucky on questionable game day calls.

Franklin? If he actually gets Vandy beating quality teams with above .500 records he will probably get a big time college job before an NFL job.

I would say Sumlin will go shortly after Jonny Football is gone.

If CBJ is successful here I think he might take the opportunity.

Les Miles, maybe.
James Franklin, no chance.

My votes would be (in this order):
(1) Will Muschamp
(2) Kevin Sumlin
(3) Gus Malzahn
(4) Les Miles

Those are the only four that I could see going.

Muschamp actually seems more like an NFL guy. I could definitely see him there if he ever got the itch and an NFL team wanted him. He was DC with the Dolphins for a year and he's only 41 years old.

I don't think Malzahn would go, because he'd probably have to go back to being an OC. Maybe if he fares poorly in Auburn, he might go on to the NFL as an OC.

I could see Sumlin or Miles in the NFL, but I think both are probably more suited to the college game. Miles is also 59 years old, so if he doesn't go in the next few years, he's probably never going.

Saban's not going back and neither is Spurrier. Bilemma and Butch Jones are both college guys. Can't see Richt bolting for the NFL, either. None of the other coaches would even be in the running for an NFL HC job. (Though, maybe Freeze could be if he builds a reputation in the SEC.)

Spurrier and Saban both decided that the being a SEC head coach was a better job than the NFL so what does that tell you?? Right now maybe Miles or Freeze, but Miles is overrated and only wins because of an abundance of talent in Louisiana.
