SEC NETWORK Programming

I know I haven't watched any Paw Finebaum Show for many years now. I can't understand how the ratings for his show would be good enough to keep it on air for 4 hours a day for this long. Has there ever been one person to watch 4 hrs of this boring "sport" talk & TV commercial show?

I would wager that Finebaums value to ESPN is that he eats up hours.

His show can't be that expensive to produce and allows the network to proclaim " X number of hours of new/original content each day" to advertisers

I'm sure his show is probably required viewing for Alabama fans as that's really all he ever talks about or takes calls about.

If they break even or lose a few $ on his show, they still filled up a bunch of hours with programming they can claim is "original". I'm sure the network as a whole only generates much of an advertising profit for about 13-14 fall Saturdays a year.

Like the way the Big 10 network does the replays in 60 minutes. That way you do not have to sit through all of those stupid commercials that you have to endure during the regular broadcast.
YES. The games in 60 minutes is a great thing the Big 10 Network does. In the past few weeks, they have shown 4-5 games per day and it only takes 4-5 hours.

SEC Network = BAMADAWGLSUFLAWDA Network. I'm not going to complain too much as I watch a lot of games on SEC Network. A couple of their mouth pieces are good a couple are homers. ESPN+ gave me a path to a lot of baseball games and for that I am grateful. Do I like ESPN? Heck no. It is obvious the media does not like Tennessee. Got that chip or woke thing on their shoulder. Knoxville or Tennessee does not rate with the ATLs, LAs, Bhams, and Columbus Ohios of the world.

My son and were talking about this the other day. The SEC network had a great opportunity this weekend to show some highly ranked high school teams from the south. Most of these were already being produced for local tv. They could have picked these up and had some good programming. Most of these games had several highly ranked players that SEC fans would have loved to watch.
NCAA might not like that idea.

Is it me, or has anyone else noticed the lack of new or original programming on the SEC Network in the last 4 months or so? Every time I turn it on , it is showing a 30 minute program from as far back as two weeks ago with all the usual bobblehead so called commentators telling us how great their former teams were in the 80s and 90s. But NOW it RUNS ALL DAY up until the Alabama show (Finebaum) come on . Has ESPN slashed the budget that much?

Writers Strike ??;)

SEC network, ESPN +, ESPN, ABC, Hulu...all.owned by Disney which is taking a financial beating of late for.many various reasons.

They are cutting budgets and content across the board. I fear our college football experience is going to suffer. I almost wish the House of Mouse would do like a College Game Day Ticket in the fall...pay a base price for subscription, then a price per game to choose the games you want to see.
Profits for 2022 were up over 20% from 2021. Profits for the year to year period ending June 30,2023 were up over 3%. Wish I was taking a financial beating if that’s what one looks like.

I work for a Fortune 500 company and they all say "double digit growth is not growing", which is completely asinine in my opinion...but it's big business today.

They don’t want anybody to sit down and watch all four hours. What the program provides is a variety of guests and information over the course of four hours to fill a block.

The common misconception is that longform TV and radio shows are asking people to commit two or three hours to something like that. That’s not what it’s about at all. That’s why you hear a lot of talk radio shows (including PF) repeat topics throughout. A very small percentage of the viewer/listener is tuning in for the whole thing, but a wide audience watches 20 or 30 minutes at a time.
