That would be outright dumb to tell a player that is a scorer to focus on defense only.

Kaela Davis can do both. One or the other would be a disservice to the team and the player.

I think coach Staley is making a huge mistake with Kaela. It's going to be interesting to see if her plan works or not. I'm going to watch a lot of South Carolina games specifically because of Kaela Davis.

Same here. Staley tried a similar tactic when she was at Temple and it almost backfired because teams started Double and Triple teaming Candace Dupree and she had to go back to Kameesha Hairston and tell her she needed her to score more if they were going to be successful and challenge in the tournament.

That's Dawn's way of saying Kaela is not just here to score like she was at GT. She will be required to play defense at SC.

Our point guards and shooting guards are always strong defenders, that's not going to change because the personnel is different.

Some of y'all are reading way too much into what Staley said. Kaela is still one of our top options offensively, but she needs to be able to defend the opposing team's best player too. She can score like Tiffany, but unlike Tiffany, Kaela can guard positions 1-4. Dawn would be crazy not to use that athleticism.

SC will no doubt have a ton of talent this upcoming season BUT Dawn will still need to get all the pieces to fit together & that's no guarantee. It won't be easy to keep all the egos in check but we'll see. Ohio state is a loaded team as well so our 1st game won't be an easy one.
