SEC Reveals Format for Future Football Schedules

If anyone did, I didn't see it. They certainly didn't fault them for the fact we weren't as good as when the series was scheduled. There was no way they could know we would be as down as we are years ago.

Nothing too major, but I've seen more than a few people make remarks like that.

I like the idea of each SEC team having to actually play a worthy opponent. No more cupcakes for all four OOC games (Im looking at you Alabama, Ms. State and Vanderbilt).

You really don't watch much football do you? :ermm: Alabama almost always plays a tough OOC team.

I wished the SEC would have mandated no FCS opponents. I use to take pride in Tennessee not playing them teams, unfortunately not anymore.

I'd like to see that happen also, but keep in mind some of those FCS schools stay afloat with those paycheck games.

Hell, sometimes they manage to win those games.

Take my school for instance.

If it makes you feel any better, Georgia Southern is no longer in the FCS starting this fall...and I bet they will be competitive right away in the Sun Belt.

Taking an in depth look look at their previous toughest OOC opponents, it would be more accurate to say they almost always play an average to above average team, with one or two great teams thrown in there. This list shows Alabama's toughest OOC competition since 2003, and I threw in each opponents SOS schedule for that season, seeing as how that has a major impact on the opposition's win-loss record-

2003- Oklahoma. Final record- 12-2. SOS- 5

2004- Southern Miss. Final record- 7-5. SOS- 87

2005- Southern Miss. Final record- 7-5. SOS- 100

2006- Hawaii. Final record- 11-3. SOS- 80

2007- Fl. State. Final record- 7-6. SOS- 26

2008- Clemson. Final record- 7-6. SOS- 21

2009- Virginia Tech. Final record- 10-3. SOS- 25

2010- Penn State. Final record- 7-6. SOS- 52

2011- Penn State. Final record- 9-4. SOS- 27

2012- Michigan. Final record- 8-5. SOS- 12

2013- Virginia Tech. Final record- 8-5. SOS- 52

Over the past eleven years the average final record of Alabama's toughest opponents is.... right at 8-4.

Also, only three out of eleven times did Alabama play an opponent that finished the season with 10 or more wins, and one of those was a team from the WAC (Hawaii).

And, Alabama's ranking regarding their OOC strength of schedule for this upcoming season is 116.

Starting in 2015 it seemed like UT was done with it, at least for awhile. But with UCONN being taken off the schedule we'll probably end up scheduling another FCS opponent once again.

Since 2007, Alabama has played a BCS out of conference opponent away from home every single year. After 2015, that'll be 9 years in a row.

Here's the list of SEC teams that can say the same:

The 2010 game at Duke had to have been excruciating, no doubt.

The poster stated that Alabama almost always plays a tough OOC opponent... That's not really the case. I just used the past decade as an example.

They've almost always scheduled an OOC team with a good to strong football history, or one that was good when the game was scheduled.

Is that better? Considering there's really not much else they can do.

I really hope we start beating Alabama and Florida again so we can stop going to such silly and ridiculous lengths to try and "bust" them.

Still away, still nine years in a row. We can't all buy out North Carolina.

You are overplaying your hand a bit now...Alabama has played a quality OOC schedule since 2005 but it is not as tough as what Tennessee has played or will be playing in 2014.

Have you ever just sat down and realize "wow I'm a Bama fan? I have failed in life."

No. But I'll give it some thought.

If our respective fandoms indicate such things, then I'd be pretty concerned if I were in your shoes. It appears that God likes me more than He likes you.

If last season is any indication, I'm pretty sure there is no God.

UT has a very difficult schedule. Congrats. Games against Utah St and Arkansas St wouldn't look as impressive on Bama's schedule as they do on UT's.
