SEC Standings

I agree that improvement has been made but only a small baby step. A much bigger step must be taken next season for any kind of real progress to be made.

Yeah moral victories are not going to be acceptable next year. I think and I hope Serano is the guy but he better get some results next year.

I wouldn't expect drastic improvement next year. Offensively they will be better but you win baseball games with pitching. Godley will be gone next year and he is just about the only sec caliber pitcher on the staff. You never know what Williams will do if he gets drafted. So, next year will depend on freshmen and sophomore pitchers which is difficult in the sec. Hopefully everyone that signed comes to school and a juco pitcher or two will be able to help right away. Also need Serrano to come to school and be as good as some are saying. On the positive side you should start seeing them pull away from the mtsu and etsu of the worlds because they should be able to out score them.

Be patient, Serrano is the right man for the job but it's gonna take some time. 2015 is the year you will really see a big improvement but Kyle Serrano is a big piece of the puzzle.

Anyone calling for Serrano to be fired at this point has not been paying attention or just does not understand baseball.

When you look at SEC scores, the Vols are very competitive. They just need a couple of power arms, a power hitter in the middle of the line up, and another year in the weight room for the freshmen. They are one or two pitchers away from being a middle of the pack team this year (see two JUCO pitchers who went pro last summer).

Pitching is the most important component and it is what the Vols are missing the most. Bring in Kyle Serrano, sign a couple of JUCO arms, and hope Nick Williams returns. These are all key to the Vols success in the next few years. The biggest improvement for a college pitcher is between the Fr and Soph years. At least 2 of Quillen, Ownby, Charpie, Cox, or Bettencourt will be much more successful next year.
