All it really says is the UF president saying they'd have to expand if someone who was a big enough gain (/someone they couldn't reasonably say no to) called them and said "save us"
I expect four super conferences in the next ten years or so. And, finally, just two. East and West. Slow movement towards basketball farm teams for the pros.
The SEC won't strike first. The Big 12 will go after Florida State/Clemson or the Big Ten will try to snag UVA/Georgia Tech first, at which point the other will follow suit and the SEC will add NC State and Virginia Tech.
I would hate to see the conference going to 16 teams, Damn, it was hard enough trying to win the conference when there were only 10 or 12 teams. If they do expand, logical choice would be going into NC and Virginia
I'm saying that ESPN and CBS would say that they add no new TV sets and would not pay an extra nickel on the TV contract if GTU joined. Which means everyone makes less money.
