We just witnessed what we can do with a Week of layoff against Texas AM can do.
Some years it makes a difference in Seeding and some years it does not. Depends on Committee and what that Excuse is.
Win the games you are suppose to win and play competitive against those where you are underdogs. Right now we could/should be a projected 3 - 7 seed for the SEC Tournament.
So does it make a difference or not? Hasn't in the past for us. We could win the entire thing and still be a 2 Seed in the NCATT Committee's eyes.

If you need to "rest-up" by this time of the season, then you are not gonna win anything!
Not everybody is as intense on defense as Tennessee. The offense we saw mid season showed it. This is the first year in a while I have seen them slump and maybe after the rest they were able to get over the hump. Most years the defense has caused a huge drop in offense last years team was not but DK even had his moments. Vescovi last year played well below his offense standard.

Remember that time we won the SEC tournament and it didn’t improve our seeding any?

The committee mostly finalizes brackets on Friday. They don’t admit it, but years of evidence shows that is true.

The simple fact is, if the totality of the SEC Tournament games mattered for March Madness seeding, fans would care a lot more about what happens in this tournament.

But this nonsense basically makes it an exhibition

I know people have disagreed with me, but in this particular year, it may decide who gets a higher seed or do I stay closer to home or am I in the west region.

For instance, assuming standings stay where they are, if Florida won the SEC tournament, they’d move ahead of Alabama on the 1 line.

Now again, for me, I care more about what the bracket looks like than location. But, we have no way to know whether it’s advantageous to be the 1 seed in the west or the 2 seed in the East (as an example).

All this debate about the 1 seed, and when the bracket is released, you will wish you were the 3 seed somewhere else.

However, if you are a 1 seed, the rest thing is kind of a moot point. Would you really think the 1st round matchup is an issue? And would you think fatigue would still be a problem for the 2nd round?
A lot of Vol fans remember losing the 1 seed in the SECT last year. And that may have cost us a F4. So it’s hard to conceive it doesn’t matter.

Yeah, I agree with you.

Individuals spewed the same nonsense about tanking the SEC tournament in baseball last season. Save your arms, get them rest yada, yada, yada.

Well Vols won SEC tournament and then took the National Championship, shows how much arm chair fans really know...
If only the NCAA basketball tournament was double elimination

Sankey should have learned his lesson by now and moved the championship game to Saturday. That one day makes a big difference when considering that one day will be lost, or at least severely disrupted, when traveling to the venue. Unless you’re Duke and they get to take an Uber to their first round games.
There’s a few things with Sankey I question. The BIG 10 got a way better TV contract.

You have to play to win. I’d like to win at least one and get to Saturday but winning it all would be even sweeter, especially with the craziness of the conference this year.

I would prefer to win the whole thing, because if you’re playing it you might as well win it. But I voted based on what my secondary preference would be if we didn’t win the whole thing. Theoretically, if we do lose, I’d rather us go 1-1 and lose on Saturday than play an extra game that is proven to have zero impact on seeding on a Sunday just to lose that game and get less rest.

But, let’s win it.

Yeah, I agree with you.
North Carolina was the 4th seed at the reveal last year and only lost once more in their conference finals. I don’t think the conference tournament results mattered.

Since they are going to play of course win it all. If they need to sit Felix to give him more time to heal his ankle and we lose, I won't have any problems with them taking an immediate exit.

My opinion. If we throw a game they will punish us. We are not Duke, NC, Kansas. They would drop us from a 1 down to a 3. I can't remember a time when losing on purpose actually helped. I remember the colts at 13-0 sitting all their starters (Peyton was pissed). The end result is it didn't help them.

Always take the #1 seed. 10000 times out of 10000 times. Last year we avoid Purdue and likely make the Final Four with a 1 seed.

If you're playing, play to win. Every single game. I know the players see it that way as well. Once the SECT starts those Tennessee seniors have two more games left that are guaranteed. Every other game left they have is up to them and their play.

It's not impossible that the conference tournament could play a role in NCAA tournament seeding. Not the usual course but with all of the SEC teams clustered at the top of all seeding it's entirely possible that it matters this year.

Always a loop hole for fans. Ask the players if they want to tank the SEC tournament but as always the fans know best( at least they think they do)..
I didn't say I know best. If we can win it, that's fine. I'm ok with whatever happens that week

Just stating a fact as to the difference between basketball and baseball. Sorry to ruffle your thin skin
