While I like the SECT, for a P5 conference it is kind of a waste of time. The only teams it helps in a P5 conference is any on the bubble. I'm not sure it even helps seeding that much. It's basically extra games that don't mean a whole lot.

And to be brutally honest, I think conference tournaments are kind of dumb period. For one bid leagues IMO the regular season champ should get the bid. I get the excitement and all but it sucks that a team that wins the whole regular season can lose their NCAAT bid because they had an off day in a 3-4 day tournament. If there is a tie then have a 1 game playoff.

We've made the SECT Finals twice under Barnes. 2 years ago yeah was disappointing but we also had to beat UK in a very crazy game to get there. And the year before we lost a close on to UK in the finals.

I mean historically I guess but recently we have.

I agree. I see them in the same light as non-playoff bowl games: pointless outside of entertainment value.

Bowl games outside of playoff games may not be pointless to some that would like the experience. I’m not a fan, but I do understand that it’s not all about me.

Yeah that's why I said outside of entertainment value. I know I'll take any basketball game I can get, but SECt is kinda pointless. I do wonder how the players feel about it. Maybe they like it. Maybe they don't have an opinion. I dunno.

Oh, I’m sure our guys, on the whole, didn’t want to play. I’m really talking about the teams that don’t normally get to play in bowl games.

Curious on whether anyone thinks the SEC Basketball Ball tournament will be played. With all the COVID issues, will the SEC and other conferences cancel tournaments so as to not jeopardize teams playing in the NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP. Thoughts.

Amazing a thread about SEC Tourney turns into this. I come here to get away from this crap. Pathetic. And stupid that people start this just to get a rise out of people and try to turn threads into political threads.

What has been stated that has gone too far? Covid is certainly a relevant topic when discussing the SECT. It would be THE reason why there wouldn't be one.

I could see them using that time to make up games instead. Just play a game every other day for 5 days, so teams get 3 extra games. Who knows.

Season ends on a Wednesday I believe, SEC starts following Wednesday.. I think the weekend between there could be some games in Nashville as makeup date games, teams will already be headed to Nashville anyway.

Yes this is exactly what happened. Season always traditionally ends on a weekend. They started SEC play a week early this season for this very reason.

Just take the win percentages and seed a tournament. Seems to make more sense than trying to make up games. The only exception would be a make up that could determine who the regular season champion is. Lets face it. It looks like Alabama is gonna be free and clear of everyone.
