Chuck Oliver (self-proclaimed King of college football) claimed yesterday that Yahoo! Sports is sitting on a major story about a team in the SEC West – not Arkansas or Ole Miss. He said they will wait to run at the end of August to maximize exposure. He speculated that it’s LSU (because of their early match with Oregon) or Alabama.

Probably is radio nonsense and an attempt to drive people to Oliver’s site, but has anybody heard anything or seen something about this on another board?

Wheter it's about the Barn, Bama, or LSU, it's all WIN for everyone else.

Doesn't matter to me which one it is, although it would be poetic justice for the Barn.

I know that in this day and age of instant reporting and no secrets that a lot of major news organizations "sit" on "major stories" for at least 90 days. Pretty standard, actually.

(But only in the reverse alternative universe to our own.)

Might be making sure that everything is toally vetted before releasing it. More than likely Yahoo just wants to put a little space between the Oregon story and this one in order to maximize the attention they get.

When is college football on everyone's mind? During the season? Could that be a ploy to drum up interest and news splash? Surely you jest? The news media wouldn't do that would they? LOL. IMO, this is probably a bogus rumor. I've heard this for a week on different sites.

This is the first I've heard that it could be anyone but Auburn. I'm interested to read it, but I'm not holding my breath that it's going to affect our season in any way.

I can't believe in the age of instant media, that anyone would sit on a story. The chance of another media outlet breaking the story is simply too great.

The story is either bogus or not all that damning.

this rumor sounds ascinine(sp) at a glance, but so did the one that went around this spring, that a top 10 team was about to get in some hot water..

Not sure which board I read it on (this one or Mizzou's) but the guys behind all the Yahoo sports reporting were on a radio show recently after the Oregon story hit and they said that the OSU story was an 8/10 (in terms of seriousness), that Oregon was a 6/10, and that they have yet another story implicating another team that will be a 10/10 when they release it.

Saw this posted in another thread. Surely, it's the Barn.
