We’re probably going to have to make the finals to get back to a 4 seed and get home court advantage in the NCAAT first weekend. ESPN has us on the 5 line right now. With our injuries and LSU losing a key player, it should be S Car and then everybody else. It will be an interesting tournament. Getting a 3 slot sure helps our chances to making it to the finals though.
Absolutely injuries impact a team's ability to go very far in the tournament. However, this team has such poor fundamentals and drive that it probably doesn't matter anyway. Even second and third string players should be able to put forth effort, not make lazy passes, hustle, box out for rebounds, shoot the ball instead of just throwing it at the basket, etc.

You are so right. What this team and these Coaches have accomplished this year after losing our best players for much of the year is amazing. Unlike UConn, we did not have a roster of five star players waiting to replace our injured players. Our Coaches have Coached well, and our team has stepped up time and time again. Getting the three seed in this tournament is a big deal, they did it, and I am proud of them. All I will say about the SEC Tourney and the NCAA going forward is that if I you are Lady Vol fan I would lower my expectations for the rest of the season. Key injuries to major players has decimated the team and we struggle to score points and that will probably continue. Before yesterday when we held a team below sixty points we were undefeated and suddenly holding a team below that level is suddenly not enough. Losing Green hurt enough, but losing Horston was a huge blow especially with Burrell only playing at 70 percent of her past ability. I hope we do well, but this team has lost more than most teams can bare and we'll see if they can overcome that and win some games going forward.

They can play hard at times, as evidenced by their comebacks late. But why do they wait until they are so far behind to put on the steam. Why not bring it the entire game. Rebounding is their best attribute, but they also miss a lot of them by simply standing flat footed and not boxing out. The other teams get a lot of gimme's because they don't hustle with off-side help on defense. Lazy passes, turnovers and missed bunnies are obvious signs of poor effort and focus. Those have plagued us the entire season (actually several seasons). I don't mind losing if you play your best and simply get beat by a more talented team, but we have seen way too losses to teams with inferior talent. That has to change if we ever get back to a final four type program.
Lazy passes, missed bunnies, and turnovers can all be signs of fatigue, too. So can poor free throw shooting. Could be our players aren't in great shape. If so, that's on the coaching staff. A lot of teams that play terrific defense, like this team, subconsciously rest on offense. Maybe that's what's happening. I'm just musing here, considering your complaints.
I actually don't see Tennessee as a really super talented team. Horston is super talented, and Rae and Tamari will play in the W. But who else would you say is a real talented player? 3 of our starters are talented players, but the other two are not. And the bench isn't teaming with five stars, either. Some of those missed bunnies are due to hands that are not soft, some of those passes are because the player doesn't have the talent to thread the needle at high speed. Some of those turnovers are a result of the opponent being more talented than our player.
I agree these losses have been frustrating, but I don't think it comes with lack of effort.
Jordan Walker could be a third round pick by some team and play overseas. If Anna Wilson can get a shot(which she will) Walker should.
Alexus Dye without back issues and with continued work on her range/shot could get chances in the W while she develops overseas.
Rae has all star potential. TK has starter potential with the right team/teammates. Horston has Olympic potential.
The others I couldn’t say at this stage in their development but I’ve have seen pro potential in some as freshmen(or sophomores).
This reminds me of a quote from Bobby Knight, “Potential is the most overused word in sports”.
Well, Jordy broke her arm scrambling for a ball. We need a rule on loose balls: Players can’t fall to the floor to retrieve a ball. We need less physical contact to cut down on injuries. You are absolutely right. It is so frustrating to watch opponents grab almost every loose ball by just out hustling our team. Itty bitty foes literally take rebounds away from our bigs who fail to just simply catch the ball. Let's hope for lessons learned after Harper belatedly turned up the heat against LSU. Gives me a little hope going forward.
I get really tired of the inaccurate statements: We have poor fundamentals. Wrong. We need to play focused for 40 minutes…we must continue to work on our mental game.Their passing is poor at times, I'll grant you that. And their shooting is poor most of the time. But no team that rebounds like this one can be considered to have nothing but poor fundamentals or a lack of drive. To say they have a lack of drive is something I can't relate to. This team plays hard. No team that plays defense and rebounds as well as this one should ever be accused of not playing hard.
Again, extreme response. All of our players are talented or they wouldn’t be Lady Vols.Lazy passes, missed bunnies, and turnovers can all be signs of fatigue, too. So can poor free throw shooting.
