Yes, LSU can be dropped to 8th or 9th position in NCAAW Selection Committee ranking as this season they are utilizing the G Curve, or Geographical Curve, not the S or Strength Curve. The latter would typically place the lowest #2-seed or 5th ranked team opposite the Overall #1-seed, as long as other guidelines are met. Which having LSU and SC, both SEC teams, as respective #2-seed and #1-seed, in the same Regional wouldn't even happen using the S Curve. Additionally, the S Curve typically puts the strongest #3-seed along with the weakest #2-seed in the overall #1-seed Regional. Thus, 8th or 9th for LSU would mean the Selection Committee if using S Curve simply would theoretically move LSU to Wichita or B'port. But they are using the G Curve and their typical Conference guidelines. LSU might be 9th or 10th depending upon if UConn and Texas keep winning, as well as ISU needs to avoid an early Tourney exit, especially to unranked team, to stay as a #2-seed. LSU's loss was a bad one as early round and to an unranked team. They shouldn't be a #2-seed whether S Curve or G Curve.
