SEC Women's Tournament

If Burrell and Evina were like Cunningham we would not be in the position we are in!

You think Cunningham started out exactly like she is today? Take most top players at any school and they started out playing that good? No, it's called good coaching that sees their potential and has helped shape those players. A good coach, a decent one, will look at Evina, Burrell and focus on what their strengths are and develop around that. Holly could never in a million years develop someone like Cunningham; Candace Parker would never have been as strong as she was if Holly was the hc at the time!

I'll just go head and say it...... I think Sophie gets a reputation for being a dirty player because she is white. Most players aren't used to a white basketball player playing physical and with an attitude....I don't think Sophie as a dirty player. I wish our Lady Vols played with the same attitude and physicality as Sophie.

I'll be interested to see how Sophie's play translates to the next level. The girl gives all she has every game but she does have a little Rodman or maybe Lambier style to her. I think it will be a wake-up call for her at the beginning because those experienced pros won't take kindly to her antics.

Agreed! I also think she takes a beating during games because of what you just said! If you watch any UCONN games at all you will see Samulson just get flat out clobbered for same reason!

Rennia's chin says differently

Same with Chennedy Carter. She's a great player, a leader, but man is she sometimes annoying. She ball hogs, is very self-centered, and I've seen her, many times, fussing on the sidelines with coach Gary Blair. She's not gonna be able to do that in the W, so I wonder how that adjustment will work for her. It will be interesting to see how some of these players perform in the W.

I don't know, I think she takes a beating because of prior behavior on the court and that reputation. In her little segment piece before the games started today, after getting into it with other players in certain games, she said she needed to step back and reevaluate how she was acting on the court. She didn't like the way some of her behavior was coming across to others and she didn't want to be known as a dirty player. To me, her behavior has very much changed and that has benefitted her as a player. I don't think race has anything to do with it, myself.

I can run off a long list of current WNBA players that are overly physical, play with in attitude and has handed out a number of cheap shots/Injuries.

Quick list:

Fowles
Whalen
Taurasi
Ogwumike
Vaughn
A.Thomas
K.Nurse

Kia Nurse for years has played overly physical and handed out a number of cheap shots. I've never heard people call her dirty...I wonder why( Geno)

Sophie will be in good company if she wins a roster spot.

That's why I said she will have to adjust at the beginning playing against those type players you just mentioned. I could almost guarantee you if she does make a team and its NOT Las Vegas and becomes too aggressive for Bill's liking, there will be a message sent. She's tough though so I expect her to find her way.

Arkansas hanging in there! Looked like they were going to pack it in, but they finally got some 3s to drop. 1 point game with 3:30 to go.

Officiating has been very one sided toward A&M. 14 foul shots to 4 for Arkansas, and they’ve been knocked around plenty.

How many pts did A&M score in the 2nd half 8 ?

Lol just about. They only had 6 in the fourth quarter so far. Arkansas turned up the D though. Getting hands on all kinds of passes and contesting shots.

This was a awful game to watch Miss State will be Arkansas by 30 mark it down.

It will be really impressive if Arkansas beats MS tommorrow for the championship. If that happens Tennessee would be out? So if Arkansas loses tommorrow that would not be enough to get them in?

Oh absolutely, Arkansas is going to be super tired and they have no answer for McCowan. So neat to see a team causing some disruption in the tournament though. Hasn’t happened much in the SEC historically. They look like they’re having the time of their life after a rough finish to the regular season.

Experts seem to think Arkansas is still out unless they win and get an automatic bid.
