1. It’s second and third string backups vs starters for a top team in the FCS. They’ll get reps and get better and this is part of that processBackups on defense really looked out of place and got outplayed by UTM. Hopefully they get better with these reps and CJH needs to keep recruiting Defensive players to get much more depth. I'll take the WIN but Kentucky is going to be a hard fought game. Can't be looking ahead to the Dawgs.
Kentucky matched up pretty well with us last year. What was the final 45-42? They have the ability to shoot it out with us, don’t be mistaken, especially the weakness of our pass defense. But our d proves they can make crucial plays in crunch situations and Banks doesn’t care how many yards we give up as long as we win.1. 2. Agree you can’t overlook league opponents but UK matches up horribly against us and will lose if we post half the points in the first half we did today next week.
3. This team and coaching staff is too disciplined to overlook any opponent. We would have covered the spread had we kept the foot on the gas and not elected to develop players. The fact that they could have covered but still got enough style points and enough of a lead to take a half off in avoiding a let down game after a generational win last week tells me this is true.
This is way you take care of business in order to play backups early.Backups on defense really looked out of place and got outplayed by UTM. Disregarding the SC game bc of an injured Levis, when have they earned a commanding quality win? Ole Miss kept the game close through mistakes and UF wasn’t the same UF we played. They’re a decent team but tell me how they keep scoring with UT?Kentucky is and was always going to be a tough game. They are a really good, well-coached team. Why it's so hard for some fans to admit that, I'll never understand. Let's don't be like their basketball fans that can't admit TN has a good basketball program.
They played a good game at home last year. They are a solid team with a solid coach. They don’t have a strong passing game despite a qb that is overrated for the draft. They don’t have a good offensive line. How successful have better UK teams been in Neyland? How do they adjust to score equally with UT, particularly given their propensity to run first? More questions than answers in evaluating their chances. I’m not saying they’re incapable of beating UT, but this is what I mean by matching up horribly.Kentucky matched up pretty well with us last year. What was the final 45-42? We will kick Kentucky's sorry a$$ for the 51st time in the last 58 games of the series (dating back to 1965).Backups on defense really looked out of place and got outplayed by UTM. Exactly. They haven’t scored more than 37 against any team and haven’t scored 30 on any SEC opponent. Do you really expect UT won’t score at least 35?We will kick Kentucky's sorry a$$ for the 51st time in the last 58 games of the series (dating back to 1965).
They have one of the worst offensive lines in the SEC. They can't run the ball against other SEC teams. They are 12th out of 14 teams in rushing offense in the SEC . They have also allowed 26 sacks through 7 games, which is the most of any team in the SEC. We struggle when facing teams with balanced offenses, who can set up the pass with the run, and protect their QB. Kentucky does neither one of those things effectively.
For the life of me, I don't understand why they are shown respect on here. Tennessee vs Kentucky is the most lopsided series, played on annual basis in the SEC, with a minimum number of 100 games played in the series. That's just a fact. They can't beat us when we are even just mediocre ... but they are going to give us a close game in Neyland while we are undefeated and ranked in the top 5 of both polls ? What-the-hell-ever.
This.We started the game down 10 players on D. We gave up 7 points. Then we put in the bottom of the barrel
Thank you!This.
Turnage will be back. Hadden will probably be back. Lord willing the DA office stops trying to make a weak felony charge happen and Tank will be back. We played walk ons today and UTM Is one of the top FCS schools in the country. Veteran starters for top 25 FCS schools are gonna be better than walk ons.
