Secondary Recruits

You keep forgetting that it is about speed and not size with the Tampa 2 defense. Look at the Bucs "D" during the Superbowl year. Look at the Colts "D" still to this day. Not about huge players. Berry is 5'11". Bob Sanders is 5'10". Neither teams played with huge corners or LB's or tackles. Speed rushers with a strong NT that can push the center back.

That post was more of my personal opinion of a strong defense. In reality, do you feel like we have to build to stop Florida's speed or Alabama's power? Or both? Or does the Tampa-Two do both? Reasons? You know we play them both every year and they are markedly different.

Only problem is that UT's base defense is not the Tampa 2. We run very little Tampa 2 defense.

I have always thought he will be a WR. Will be a good one...

From an athletic view, yes...i think he has more pure athletic ability than any of the wr's we have...

But he did not play wr up to his senior year of high school... who knows how his route running is?

Does anyone have any news on meline? I know he had to sit out the first of the year because he transferred and had some sort of transfer issues?

Ellis' comfort with Michigan State could increase in the coming weeks as she sets out to learn more about the program.

"I really want to sort of talk to the coach myself, as I didn't get the opportunity to go up there," Bryant's mother explained. "Football-wise, I think him and his dad can pretty much cover that portion of it. With regard to football from my perspective, I just want to make sure he gets a fair chance there. I'd like to know how many defensive backs they are actually recruiting and how many senior players or younger defensive back they currently have. With regard to academics, for minority kids I want to know what their graduation rates are -- how many minority kids are being graduated? I have a lot of questions."

This is Christian Bryant's mom in a great article on Versatile Christian Bryant within Spartans' grasp | detnews.com | The Detroit News

We are in the running to get him and Latwan Anderson as another teammate duo. It is remarkable that so many of the top 150 players in HS in the country play together in HS.

We have pulled from Glenville before but OSU guys said it was players that the Buckeyes did not want. They definitely want this duo, and while it still looks likely they end up there, the Thornton Academic Center, Ms. J and the Minority Student Center would impress the heck out of Bryant's mom if we can get them down here for a visit. It is not a long trip either.

"Right now, USC and Tennessee are my two favorites, they're tied right at the top. I loved my Tennessee visit and I'm trying to get out there again for an unofficial visit. I can't really describe it but I just had the best time there and felt so at home.

"The fan were incredible and every time they started singing Rocky Top, I got all fired up. I love the defense and the opportunity to play for a legend like Monte Kiffin. They have great tradition there and I really believe they're on the verge of building something huge at UT and it would be great to be a part of that."
Tennessee joins SC atop Wright's leaderboard - ESPN

We are coleaders with USC for Demetrius Wright and he is trying to get the money together to come out here again with his mom so she can sign off on him ending up in Knoxville.

Ahmad Dixon...Baylor lost their QB and a 4 win season now looks likely. He is probably headed elsewhere and if TN can get him on campus we have a great shot. He still has not come.

Shaw and Riley both loved their ND official. Shaw and Riley are also talking about playing together.

POINTS AFTER TOUCHDOWN: Rivalries make their return - LA Daily News

Makes a recent report of Shaw wearing a UF T Shirt suck...

If Elam comes to us which I doubt, I would expect Riley and Shaw to head to UF.

Someone will be the Eric Berry replacement.

Shaw and Riley would be the best duo I think.

Wright and Dixon would be incredible.

Keenan Allen and Joyner would be a dream duo, but so would Ray Lewis dropping out of a time warp and having eligibility for us at MLB...

Christian Bryant and Latwan Anderson actually seems possible to me.

Also no real update on Victor Hampton other than he was scheduled for an official and now he is not, and now lots of the Florida secondary guys are coming in for the USCe game.

LV,
Who do you think our secondary ends up being?
No shot with K Allen?
Elam is back solid with UF?
Do we have a chance with Dixon?
Christian Bryant and Latwan?

Obviously Wright and Hampton look to be close to being ours now...

Thanks.

I wish Butch Davis would get K Allen. I do not want him at Bama.

Bryant and Anderson can be buckeyes, it is nice that we are in their top 3 along with Michigan State and that they are not headed to SEC rivals.

Wright at CB and Dixon or Elam at S...

Anyone who is anything other than thrilled at that secondary group coming in with the talent we have returning there is an idiot.

allen- no shot
elam- no shot...if and that's a big if he isn't a gator he will most likely end up at osu. That is the place we have been told all along to worry about if he visits because of his big bro playing for the browns and his parents originally are from Ohio.
dixon- we have a shot
bryant and anderson- no shot

You have a MUCH better shot at Dorsey than Elam...Dorsey hasn't been solid since he committed. Watch for Dorsey to UT if you guys make a strong push for him.

I give you guys credit for being optimistic about Elam because the kid is all Gator. I know Kiffin REALLLLLLLLLLLLY wants him, but sometimes you just have to understand that it won't happen.
